Artistry Plaster and Drywall Inc. is looking for a casual part-time drywall/plaster helper to assist with drywall and specialty residential historic restoration and finishing work in the Saint John region.
We are building a healthier culture in the trades.
That is not a slogan to us. It affects how we teach, communicate, schedule work, and treat people on-site.
We are not a production drywall company focused on rushing jobs at all costs. We specialize in high-quality drywall finishing, plaster conservation and restoration in historic homes, crack repair, and detail-oriented custom work where trade skill and attention to detail matter.
Part of our goal is to help preserve and pass on traditional trade skills, careful finishing practices, and to promote higher standards in residential finishing work in Saint John — work where surfaces are properly prepared, repairs blend in, details matter, and the finished result reflects genuine care and skill.
We believe skilled trades should still involve problem-solving, precision, and care — not simply getting in and out of a job as quickly as possible.
We are a women-owned and operated company, and we intentionally maintain a respectful, supportive work environment where questions are encouraged, and people are properly trained. We do not tolerate screaming, humiliation, harassment, or the “learn by abuse” culture that is prevalent in the industry.
We believe good work comes from skill development, communication, patience, accountability, and taking pride in the finished product — not fear, ego, or treating workers as disposable.
The position is currently casual/part-time, but the workload continues to grow, and there is a genuine opportunity for advancement and increased responsibility for the right person.
An experienced drywall finisher or installer seeking a stronger long-term opportunity would be an ideal fit — especially someone who feels capped in a “second position” with little room for advancement at their current company. However, we are also open to training someone highly motivated, dependable, and genuinely committed to learning the trade properly.
Depending on experience, work may include:
• Hanging drywall
• Site prep and dust protection
• Material handling
• Sanding and cleanup
• Assisting with drywall finishing
• Assisting with plaster conservation/restoration work
• Ladder and scaffold work
• Long periods of overhead work
Ideal candidate:
• Reliable transportation
• Physically capable of construction work
• Comfortable learning new skills
• Ability to work overtime as required
• Able to perform repetitive tasks efficiently while maintaining attention to detail and quality
• Able to work at a steady pace without sacrificing quality
• Takes pride in quality work
• Respectful and professional with clients and coworkers
• Drywall or construction experience is a strong asset, but not required for the right candidate
We welcome applicants from all backgrounds and are committed to maintaining an inclusive and respectful workplace. Members from the LGBTQ2IA+ community and other underrepresented groups in the trades are strongly encouraged to apply.
To apply, send a brief message about yourself, any relevant experience, and your general availability to [email protected]
