🚧 Project Progress on the Shuswap North Okanagan Rail Trail

It’s great to see continued momentum on the Shuswap North Okanagan Rail Trail as Construction moves ahead with the finishing touches around the Mara Community Hall site along the Shuswap River.

Our team at Lawson Engineering has been proud to support this project, including the design work for the parking lot and surrounding infrastructure. Recent efforts have focused on refining the parking area, bringing it closer to completion for community use.

Fence installation is also well underway, helping define the space while adding a polished, cohesive look to the site.

Earlier this month, crews completed a transition strip connecting the parking lot to the rail trail. This detail plays an important role in:

Managing drainage effectively
Limiting vegetation growth along the fence line
Enhancing long-term performance of the site

With the Mara Community Hall serving as a local hub for over a century, it’s rewarding to be part of upgrades that will benefit both residents and trail users for years to come.

LEL recently received the most thoughtful thank-you cards from the students at a local school project. 😍

Seeing the drawings and kind messages the students created truly meant a lot to our team here at LEL. We’re proud to play a small role in projects that help create spaces for kids to learn, play, and grow.

A big thank you to the students and staff for the heartfelt notes!!

We loved the cards so much, that we created a collage of them, which now hangs in our office entry! Something we know, will bring a smile to everyone who walks through our doors, for years to come!! ☺️

Big progress on the South Basin Drainage Improvements project in Vernon! 💪

After months of horizontal directional drilling, Ironman HDD started pulling the 600 mm storm main from Okanagan Lake up to Kokanee Road last week.

This project will safely re-route stormwater from the hillside down to the lake for the City of Vernon. 🌊🚧

We hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season.

We were a little quiet over the break; between travel, family gatherings, and taking time to recharge, posting took a back seat.

Here’s a look at one of our current projects in Vernon at the earlier stages. This large commercial development will feature seven new commercial buildings.

This photo highlights the installation of the first of three Storm Detention Systems on site. These systems temporarily store stormwater and release it back into the City’s infrastructure at controlled, pre-development rates so the municipal system isn’t overloaded. LEL is helping support responsible site development, one project at a time.

Lawson Engineering is proud to support the City of Merritt with a Horizontal Directional Drilling project for a new water main. This installation helps upgrade essential infrastructure while minimizing surface disruption and with views like this, it’s not a bad place to work!
