Thank You for Your Support!

We are incredibly grateful to everyone who came out to support the New Feathers Industrial ownership signing ceremony. Your presence made this event truly special and memorable.

New Feathers Industrial is proud to be doing business the right way, with true Indigenous ownership. Our diverse ownership structure includes esteemed Indigenous communities such as Île-à-la-Crosse, Big River First Nation, and Saulteaux First Nation. This collaboration spans all borders of Saskatchewan, marking a significant step towards fostering economic growth and cultural unity.

We are also excited to get to work and start our revolutionary education program aimed at developing journey persons, not apprentices. NFI plans to provide comprehensive training programs that equip participants with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills daily. This initiative ensures that our workforce is well-prepared and ready to excel in their trades.

Together, we are creating a more inclusive and equitable business environment that honors the rich cultural heritage of our communities while fostering economic development and prosperity. Thank you for being a part of this joyous occasion.

Introducing one more of New Feathers Industrial owners Saulteaux First Nation

The Saulteaux, whose name translates to "people of the rapids" in French, have a rich history rooted in their Ontario settlement near a waterway. As part of the larger Ojibwa (or Chippewa) tribe, they reside in the Northern United States and speak their native tongue, Ojibwa, as well as Cree.

The Saulteaux were first encountered by Europeans near Sault Ste. Marie, on an outlet of Lake Superior. They formed a strong bond with settlers through trapping and trading, adapting to the region's soil conditions and short growing seasons by embracing a hunting and trading lifestyle. Some members of the band traveled west to Saskatchewan, drawn by the fur trade's expansion, and continued to hunt buffalo on the prairies. Settling in the majestic hills near Cochin Lake and 43 km north of North Battleford and signing Treaty 6 on August 18, 1854.

Celebrating Our Owners and The Growth of Big River First Nation!!

Big River First Nation is a proud Cree community located in Treaty 6 Territory. The people of BRFN have lived on these lands for generations, guided by rich traditions, culture, and connection to the land. The Plains Cree live in harmony with nature, relying on the land for survival through hunting, fishing, and gathering. The BRFN people are known for their adaptability, strong kinship systems, and deep spiritual beliefs.

Big River First Nation is a growing and very self-determined community. BRFN has invested in education, economic development, and urban services to ensure a strong future for our people. BRFN honors the past, embraces the present, and looks forward to the future of prosperity for all its members both on and off the reserve.

Chief Jonathan Bear leads the Big River First Nation with a focus on transparency, accountability, and community development. In November 2024, Chief Bear oversaw the opening of an urban office in downtown Prince Albert to provide job training and mental health support to off-reserve members. He also serves on the board of the First Nations Capital and Infrastructure Agency of Saskatchewan (FNCIAS), contributing to infrastructure and capital projects for First Nations communities. Chief Bear's initiatives reflect a commitment to enhancing the well-being of Big River First Nation members, both on and off the reserve.

We are also proud to highlight Derek Klein, the CEO for over 25 years with BRFN. Derek was one of the Canadian finalists for the 2023 Willie O'Ree Community Hero Award. This award recognizes individuals who have positively impacted their community, culture, or society through the sport of hockey. This highlights Derek's integrity and commitment to the Big River community, which is evident in his efforts to increase the community's economic development. His dedication led to many accolades with such projects as the construction of the $42 million Jim Neilson Sports Complex, providing over 800 children on reserve and nearby rural communities with access to an amazing facility for Canada's sport. The list goes on and on with Derek's contribution
