Delco’s annual company golf tournament took place on Saturday, May 30, at Holiday Park Golf Course in Saskatoon. It turned out to be a beautiful day—the weather cooperated, and there was plenty of fun to be had. We enjoyed a great dinner hosted by Smiley’s Catering, along with prizes donated by some of our vendors. With some friendly competition on the course, a few participants truly thrived under pressure:

Lowest Team Score - Cory Dyck, Megan Dyck, Eric Shimla and Megan Shimla
Men's Longest Drive - Kenton Remenda
Women's Longest Drive - Leanne Porochnavy
Men's Closest to the Pin - Rylan Golanowski
Women's Closest to the Pin - Ava Correia

May 4–10 is Canadian Mental Health Week. This year’s theme, Come Together, is a reminder that connection matters—whether it’s a quick check‑in, a meaningful conversation, or simply being there for one another.

Mental well‑being is shaped by our relationships and shared environments. By showing kindness and staying connected, we can help build a culture where everyone feels seen, supported, and valued.

Meet Dylan Malec, Lead Automation Engineer at Delco and a University of Saskatchewan Computer Engineering graduate. Before joining Delco in his first long‑term career role, Dylan worked in the concrete industry while completing his studies.

Earlier this year, Dylan married his wife, Shelby, whom he’s been with for eight years. The two now happily own a home in Brighton.

At Delco, Dylan is driven by continuous improvement and solving complex technical challenges. A key achievement he’s proud of is building a consistent programming standard across Delco Water systems—improving onboarding, support, and commissioning. Along the way, he’s learned an important lesson: “Do it once and do it right.”

One of Dylan’s favourite teamwork moments was welcoming Bhody Magnusson to the automation department. Bhody’s first project was fully programming and testing the Dog Paw Water Treatment Plant, later going on to take on one of Delco’s most complex projects.

Dylan values “the flexibility and atmosphere at Delco,” describing it as “such an inclusive, positive, and understanding environment.” He adds that “everyone is always willing to learn and understand all aspects of their work,” and credits mentor Kent Fischer for helping him reach his fullest potential.

Outside of work, Dylan enjoys PC gaming, camping, jazz festivals, tropical travel, and hands‑on projects—most recently installing solar panels on his garage. If he could automate one thing in daily life, it would be “Repetitive and frequent tasks, such as the dishes and cleaning.”

One word personality description: “A Robot.” 🤖
Productivity hack: “Coffee 😄”
What makes him laugh? “Causing chaos with my friends when they take games too seriously.”
Dream dinner guests: “Probably just my wife, nice and romantic and simple.”
Most excited for 2026: Camping with a French press opposed to a Percolator!

This week, we were in beautiful Banff for the Alberta Water & Wastewater Operators Association Annual Conference. Thank you to everyone who took time to connect with the Delco Water team—we appreciated the great conversations throughout the event.

As part of the conference program, Tyler Reaser presented insights on 'Comparing Approaches to Reverse Osmosis/Nanofiltration Permeate Stability', highlighting key performance, reliability, and lifecycle cost considerations across different stabilization strategies.

If we didn’t have the opportunity to connect during the conference and you’d like to learn more about Delco Water, feel free to leave a comment below.
