Great to welcome an international group of researchers to AXYS following the OcEn offshore renewable energy workshop at UVIC.
The Ocean energy sector as contribution towards carbon neutrality (OcEn) project at the University of Plymouth conducts research to accelerate sustainable ocean energy deployment, focusing on Environmental Assessment, Technology Readiness, Energy Systems, and Community Impact to meet net-zero goals
Last week, we had the opportunity to host colleagues from the University of Plymouth (UK), along with partners from UVic, for a visit to our headquarters. The group—coordinated with support from Max Bottoni, AXYS VP Operations—included Lars Johanning who leads the project, Brad Buckham, director of PRIMED (Pacific Regional Institute for Marine Energy Discovery), and several early-career researchers participating in the workshop.
During the visit, we showcased a range of AXYS Solutions and provided an up-close look at our FLIDAR® system currently in-house.
It was a valuable exchange of ideas, with strong engagement around offshore wind measurement technologies, data and power systems, and broader ocean monitoring applications.
These interactions are exactly what’s needed to advance offshore renewable energy—bringing together industry and academia to foster practical innovation and international collaboration.
Thanks to everyone who took the time to visit and contribute to the discussion.
