A lot of Eastern Ontario homes are cooling down right now — but is your thermostat working with you or against you? 🏠

A few quick tips to get the most out of your AC this summer:

✅ Set it to what's comfortable when you're home, and a little warmer when you're away
✅ Use the scheduling or "away" mode so you're not cooling empty rooms all day
✅ Keep the fan set to "Auto" — not "On" — so you're not circulating warm air between cycles

A programmable or smart thermostat makes all of this easy to set and forget. If yours is still the old dial type, it might be worth an upgrade before the real heat hits.

Before the heat really hits Eastern Ontario, it's worth checking in on your air conditioner. 🏠

Here are a few simple things to do before the first hot stretch of the season:
• Replace or clean your air filter
• Clear leaves and debris from around the outdoor unit
• Test it on a mild day — not when it's already 30°C and you really need it

If your AC is slow to cool, making strange noises, or hasn't been serviced in a few years, those are signs it could use a professional tune-up. A little attention now saves a lot of sweating later.

Quick heads-up: if your outdoor hose bib is stiff, dripping, or hard to turn after a long winter, it's worth getting it looked at before it becomes a bigger problem. A worn-out hose bib can leak inside the wall — and water damage is never a fun surprise.
