In partnership with the local community and the Peskotomuhkati Nation, GIP is proud to highlight the Milltown Generating Station Decommissioning Project on the St. Croix River in St. Stephen, NB, spanning the Canada–US border. Completed for NB Power, the project involved demolishing three powerhouse structures, a gated spillway, a rollway, and a stoplog spillway, reshaping the riverbed to create a fish passage, stabilizing slopes, and restoring the site, revealing the natural beauty of the St. Croix River. Beyond construction, GIP supported numerous community initiatives. We participated in a Blanket Exercise, sourced goods and services from 25 local companies in NB and Maine, supported the Archie Fundraiser, and partnered with NB Power and the Peskotomuhkati Nation for a water ceremony celebrating project completion. Our team also had the honour of shucking lobster with the Nation and traveling downriver to St. Andrews to celebrate National Indigenous Peoples Day alongside the Passamaquoddy Recognition Group Inc., creating a truly memorable experience that strengthened community connections and celebrated its rich culture. We are proud to have built a lasting partnership with the Nation and the local community, one we will continue to honour and grow for years to come.

We’re proud to celebrate an incredible achievement from one of our own, Grace O’Reilly, a Co-op student with Pennecon Heavy Civil Ltd., was named the Civil Engineering recipient of the “Outstanding Work Term” award at the Memorial University, Newfoundland and Labrador Engineering Co-op Director’s Awards.

Grace completed all 6 of her work terms with Pennecon, consistently bringing talent, dedication, and professionalism to every project. We’re thrilled that she will be continuing with us after graduation, and we can’t wait to see what she accomplishes next. Adding to this proud moment, Pennecon was recognized as a Top Employer for Memorial University Engineering students, a recognition that speaks volumes about the support and meaningful experiences our teams deliver across all divisions.

A proud moment for Canadian energy and for everyone involved, including our Pennecon team. 🏗

We’re to celebrate this major milestone with our partners at Cenovus as the West White Rose concrete gravity structure sets sail from Argentia, NL. This achievement represents years of hard work, collaboration, and commitment from thousands of skilled tradespeople, companies, and communities, and we’re honoured to be part of it.

Congratulations to everyone who helped bring this next chapter to life. Onward to the White Rose field! 👏

It’s a major milestone for our West White Rose project, as the concrete gravity structure leaves the graving dock in Argentia, NL. The approximately 200,000 tonne structure was floated out today and is making its way to a nearby offshore site, where it will stay for approximately six weeks while we prepare to tow it to the White Rose field.

We want to thank all the employees and tradespeople, companies, communities and other stakeholders who supported us on this great Canadian energy project.
