Our Co-Founder, Sean Leet, has recently been appointed to the Marine Institute, Memorial University’s Industry Advisory Committee as Industry and Community Representative. This industry-based advisory committee, with members appointed by Memorial University, Newfoundland and Labrador’s Board of Regents, advises the Marine Institute on fisheries and marine-related programs and activities.

Canadian green hydrogen partnership World Energy GH2 joins LeadIT

First Canadian member to join the organization

“Industry transition does need global solutions and worldwide partnerships. Therefore, we warmly welcome World Energy GH2 as a member of Leadership Group for Industry Transition (LeadIT). It will be an interesting journey as they have set themselves the task to produce green hydrogen with wind power and the ambition of transatlantic transport of green ammonia from North America to continental Europe. It demonstrates the sort of ambition that is needed to accelerate heavy industry decarbonization. A recent LeadIT study showed that the increased demand for green hydrogen, driven by green steel production, will be substantial and all sources needed.”

World Energy GH2 plans to construct one of the world’s first commercial green hydrogen and ammonia production plants. Its membership of LeadIT was announced during a LeadIT event at COP29 in Baku.

We’ve joined leaders across the maritime value chain in signing a Call to Action at to accelerate scalable zero-emission fuel uptake, investment in ammonia and methanol-enabled vessels, and the development of infrastructure for green hydrogen-derived fuels.

Global industry leaders build on momentum from previous COPs to strengthen targets and commit to increasing the uptake of zero or near-zero GHG emission shipping fuels to at least 5%, striving for 10%, by 2030.

On Nov. 8, we recognize Indigenous Veteran’s Day in Newfoundland and Labrador, and on Nov. 11, we recognize Remembrance Day in Canada. We remember and honour the commitments made by those who have served.

Econext‘s annual conference is Newfoundland and Labrador’s premier green economy event, attracting leaders in business, government, academia, and the community. The conference focuses on clean energy, green innovation, environmental challenges, and the pursuit of net zero.
