Our Story

In 2011 there were no local options for customers looking for security alarms, security cameras, access control systems, systems integration, and monitoring services in Central Labrador. The closest provider was an individual out of Churchill Falls, 300Km away, who installed just alarm systems as a side job. Most local businesses who needed these solutions typically paid to have technicians flown in from either Halifax Nova Scotia or St. John’s Newfoundland at a great added expense.

In late 2011, the founder of Uppik Solutions, Brian Davis, moved from Western Canada back to Labrador where he was born and raised.

By that time, Brian had been working in the security technology and service sector for over a decade. After moving west in 2000 he attended the security management program at the University of Alberta and subsequently worked his way through the various segments of the industry from managing security services, project managing large tech projects for industry and government, spearheading the expansion of new parking management technology into the Prairie Provinces, to helping develop the project management offices for successful integration firms and eventually becoming the managing director of a successful security services firm.

Recognizing a gap in the local market upon his return to Labrador, Brian started Uppik Security Solutions and incorporated as Uppik Solutions Inc. in May 2012.
