NS CNC Elara 2 Installed at Texas A&M University Engineering Experiment Station

We are pleased to announce that another NS CNC Elara 2 machine has been successfully launched at the Engineering Experiment Station of Texas A&M University, where it will operate under the supervision of Professor Arum Han.

This installation marks another important milestone in our ongoing collaboration with leading research institutions. We are confident that the Elara 2 will serve as a valuable tool in advancing the station's research capabilities, and we hope our machine will be of great help in supporting further scientific discoveries and innovations.

We extend our sincere thanks to Professor Han and the team at Texas A&M for their trust in our technology, and we look forward to seeing the breakthroughs that emerge from their work.

Unique Packaging for Micro-Milling Bits.

Performance Micro Tool https://www.pmtnow.com/, a world leader in the production of ultra-small drilling and milling tools, manufactures cutters with diameters as small as 5 microns—dimensions that push the limits of precision engineering. These tools are widely used by many NS CNC machine users, especially in applications requiring extreme accuracy, such as micro-machining, research, and fine-detail fabrication.

Handling cutters of this scale presents a unique challenge. Traditional storage and transport solutions simply cannot provide the level of protection required. Even the slightest movement or improper handling can damage these delicate tools.

To address this, specially designed packaging has been developed. When closed, the cutters are gently but firmly pressed against a secure base, ensuring they remain completely immobilized during storage and transport. This prevents vibration, shifting, and potential damage.

When access is needed, the mechanism is equally thoughtful: as the base is pulled out, the cutters are automatically released, allowing for easy and safe removal without the risk of bending or breakage.

This elegant solution reflects the same level of precision and care found in the tools themselves—demonstrating that, at the micro scale, even packaging becomes a critical part of the technology.

Another new product from NS CNC: the Mini Vacuum Nozzle. This accessory kit lets you convert one of the coolant nozzles into a vacuum port. With a simple swap, you get effective dust extraction when milling materials that don’t require coolant, such as graphite or wood. It easily connects to a standard vacuum cleaner or vacuum generator.

A new product from NSCNC. NSK AQC collet holder stand. It not only allows you to store unused collet holders in place, but most importantly, it allows you to easily insert milling bit into collets using just one wrench. And if you place this stand against the sides of the Elara front tray, loosening and tightening the collet nut becomes a snap.

The NS CNC Elara makes quick work of milling steel pinions of any tooth profile in a matter of minutes. No need to source expensive and easily broken gear cutter sets. Draw your gear and mill it using simple end mills. Work that would take hours with a milling machine and a divider is now possible easily and much more accurately. There are many pinion tooth profiles in horology and all of them can be made on one machine - Elara - using simple tools and basic machining skills

At the recent TMS Conference in San Diego, NS CNC showcased precision components created by scientific users of its machines, highlighting their role in advanced research. Among the exhibits were microsensors for Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) studies, developed by a team led by Professor Andre Simpson from the University of Toronto. These intricate parts demonstrate the high level of accuracy achievable with NS CNC equipment.

A neighboring exhibitor, NanoScience from Phoenix AZ, presented a compact yet powerful microscope-scanner Phenom XL. Curious to see our samples under their system, we were surprised by its small, tabletop size—comparable to a coffee maker—paired with impressive capabilities. The instrument not only delivers high-magnification imaging, but also enables precise measurements and chemical composition analysis.

One of the NMR sensors, featuring a 4 mm coil, was scanned at 1,200× magnification, revealing fine structural details more than sufficient for analysis. Remarkably, the system is capable of reaching up to 200,000× magnification, opening the door to an entirely new level of visualization.

Together, these demonstrations highlighted the powerful combination of precision machining and advanced analytical tools, enabling deeper insight into the smallest and most complex structures.
