It’s called balcony solar, and it’s already being used in countries like Germany.

Instead of installing a full rooftop system, homeowners and condo residents can use one or two small solar panels connected to a microinverter to generate electricity and help reduce their monthly hydro bills.

The catch? These plug-in solar systems aren’t currently approved for residential use in BC.

The BC Green Party is pushing for changes that could make this technology more accessible, opening the door for renters, condo owners, and homeowners who aren’t ready to invest in a full rooftop system.

It’s not a replacement for a larger solar installation, but it could be an affordable first step toward generating your own electricity.

We couldn’t be more proud of everyone involved in making this event such a success. From the organizers and volunteers to all the incredible athletes, businesses, and people who came out to support the event, the energy throughout the weekend was something special.

It was a pleasure meeting so many of you, having great conversations, and sharing what we’re passionate about.
