Kemitek Receives Funding from the Canada Foundation for Innovation to Expand Research Capabilities in Microelectronics and Advanced Materials
Thetford Mines, Quebec, August 20th 2026 - Kemitek is proud to announce that it has secured significant funding from the Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI) to acquire state-of-the-art scientific equipment valued at nearly $2.5 million. This new research infrastructure will significantly strengthen the organization’s capabilities in materials characterization for the microelectronics and sustainable construction sectors.
The project includes the acquisition of a nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectrometer, a digital microscope, a thermogravimetric analyzer coupled with mass spectrometry (TGA-MS), a differential scanning calorimeter (DSC) equipped with a UV curing module, and an automated titrator. Together, these instruments will enable the precise characterization of high-performance polymer materials intended for leading-edge applications in microelectronics and sustainable construction.
Affiliated with Thetford College (Cégep de Thetford), Kemitek is a Technology Transfer Centre recognized for its expertise in green chemistry and process scale-up. For more than 23 years, the organization has supported Canadian companies in their innovation efforts and helped transform scientific discoveries into market-ready solutions.
The new infrastructure will address growing industry demand for the production and characterization of high-quality test batches while strengthening collaborations with innovative organizations including Arkema, Gurit, Soprema, C2MI, and Sherbrooke University.
Beyond supporting the development of advanced and sustainable materials, the project will contribute to the training of highly qualified personnel through the participation of students, interns, university researchers, and industry professionals in applied research projects.
“The acquisition of this state-of-the-art equipment will enable us to accelerate the development of innovative technologies in-house, all with the aim of better meeting the needs of our industrial partners and contributing to the competitiveness and sustainable transition of Canadian and Quebec industries,” said David Berthiaume, CEO of Kemitek.
