At Grid Link, we pride ourselves on investing in employee training and professional development, with a dedication to safety.
This story highlights the value of that training, and how it extends beyond the workplace.
"I'd like to share a feel-good story.
Here at Grid Link, I made a conscious decision 25 years ago, when I started this company, to train all of our staff to the best of our abilities, including ensuring they are all trained in first aid.
Jamie Murphy, our Business Development Manager (he also has 20 years of Emergency Medical Response training and is a First Aid trainer with the Red Cross),and I flew to Toronto for meetings with Porter Airlines on May 25th.
We were approximately 45 minutes from landing when there was a medical emergency on the plane. It was inspirational and impressive to watch Jamie spring into action; he took control of the scene and provided professional, compassionate care to the individual in need. As it all turned out, the flight was diverted, and the patient was met by paramedics.
A person never knows when training will be required. As a business owner, I find it refreshing to see this level of professionalism from our staff. This experience has only strengthened my outlook on ensuring ALL of our employees continue their professional development training.
I am proud to know our employees will jump in and help out when needed." - Jody Bernst, CEO of Grid Link
