McStaff Mechanical Ltd. is currently looking for both Automotive and/or Heavy Equipment Journeyman Technicians (3rd or 4th year are encouraged to apply) for our growing business.
We have recently moved into a 70x80 steel shop in the town of Tofield Alberta in which we run out of. We also have 3 Service Trucks out and about and are open to have a technician start in the shop, working your way to a truck, pending experience. Our service trucks are used out at our customer’s sites, mostly with shops to use. Not very often are you in a puddle, rain, snow or crazy weather making it easier to just be a tech. Not your normal back breaking mechanical work.
Our customer’s equipment consists of all types and styles of Fork lifts, Man lifts/AWP, Fire Protection equipment, Stationary equipment, Loading docks, Transport trucks and trailers, Construction equipment and Farm equipment. We always try to offer a solution to our customer’s issues even if we have to sublet as no is not a good answer. As an independent shop we believe this has helped us grow as the customer gets to their end goal.
Work hours are 7:30 – 4:30 Monday thru Friday with the option to work overtime. We work an Earned Day Off schedule, meaning you work 8.5 hours daily and paid 8 and bank the half hour as EDO’s are planned a year ahead, It works out to 3 long weekends every month for summer and winter is down to 2 a month. But we are willing to accommodate date changes that will work for you and your family.
About us; We have been in business for over 12 years and are very customer service, safety and quality repair orientated. We are a family business in which we treat all our employees like family, which is why we are very accommodating people when it comes to time off as we understand life and families.
Some more about us as people and a business; we supply all the necessary PPE including, but not limited to; coveralls, winter gear, gloves, hardhat and all other safety equipment.
We also have a program for schooling, we will pay for school and books if you get over 80% and if you get over 90%, we pay for school and give you a $500 tool bonus.
Speaking of bonuses we give cash bonuses for Christmas, during our Christmas party which includes all the food, drinks and hotels (depending where we have it) We also do a lot of charity events in which you are invited to, some are dinners, some are dances. We try to get all employees and families together for BBQ’s during the summer months and have random paid lunches during work weeks.
We supply tools ¾” and up, and all specialty tools for the shop and the service vehicles.
Our pay schedule is every two weeks, on Friday. We do not supply benefits but will pay half yours (after probation period) as we have found that each family’s needs are different, but also you are not paying the excessive pricing for group benefits nor paying the taxable portion of the benefits.
We pay our Journeyman starting at $42.50 an hour, but willing to pay more for the right person. Bottom line is if we are making money, you are making money. Apprentice rates are based off of Alberta Standards.
We are looking for someone who has attention to detail, strong work ethic and a good attitude. You must be able to pass Pre-Access Drug and Alcohol Testing and have clean drivers abstract. If this sounds like you, please submit your resume to [email protected]
