Occupational Health Nurse – BNG0011 (Safety, Training & Security)
Reporting to the Health & Safety Coordinator, the Occupational Health Nurse will be responsible for providing emergency services, healthcare, workplace rehabilitation, wellness programs and worker education while promoting a healthy workplace at Battle North Gold – Bateman Gold Project. This position will work a local 5x2, 8-hour shift schedule offering a great work/life balance.
Responsibilities
• Develops a preventative health environment ensuring compliance with all policies, legislation and regulations affecting health and medical requirements.
• Establishes a calendar of events and scheduled prevention education fitting operational and seasonal risks.
• Professionally treats and supports workers with any first aid or associated conditions that supports best prognosis for conditions.
• Collaborates and liaises with the HR, Health Safety and Training team to monitor, participate, assess, and consult on safety issues.
• Refers workers to further treatment after advising management first where applicable.
• Minimizes risk to workers and the business by applying timely, first aid to prevent complication of any physical compromise.
• Manage WSIB claims, modified work program, and worker rehabilitation, and all related correspondence.
• Advocate for employees with supervisors, WSIB, insurance provider or physician, when necessary.
• Follow up with injured workers to ensure timely return to work.
• Administer pre-employment and random drug testing for employees and contractors.
• Deliver worker training programs (e.g., First Aid & CPR).
• Liaise with outside health organizations. Monitor biological testing. Organize mine medicals.
• Keep complete and accurate employee medical records and ensure confidentiality. Compile statistical reports, as requested.

• Comply with federal and provincial acts, regulations, and legal requirements.
• Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
• College degree in Nursing with RN or RPN designation, and a minimum of 5 years’ experience acute care nursing and/or occupational health experience, including 2 years in the mining industry.
• Knowledge of provincial legislation including the Occupational Health and Safety and Act and the Workplace Safety Insurance Act.
• Audiometric and Pulmonary Function Technician Certificate would be an asset.
• Current Certifications in CPR and First Aid. Previous experience in an industrial setting is preferred.
