Powering the Grid, Protecting the Land

As utility-scale solar continues to grow, responsible energy solutions must look beyond clean electrons. Biodiversity matters. True sustainability means considering the land beneath our arrays - not just for its appearance, but for the vital ecosystems it supports. Native vegetation, pollinator habitats, migration corridors, and smart stormwater management are all essential elements for solar that truly benefits communities and the planet.

At GOLDBECK SOLAR, our O&M experts partner closely with project owners to implement pollinator-friendly groundcover, recommend diverse seed mixes tailored to local needs, prioritize grazing over herbicides, and preserve natural habitat features whenever possible. You can see this in action at our sites, where flocks of sheep help maintain the land naturally - reducing the need for chemicals, supporting biodiversity, and creating a healthy environment under the panels.

We believe balancing high-performance energy production with environmental stewardship isn’t just the ideal - it’s necessary for long-term project success and community trust. Because solar is about more than generating power. It’s about doing it in harmony with the world around us.

Welcome to this week’s !
We’re proud to showcase the Fox Coulee Solar Farm in Alberta, launched nearly a year ago. With a capacity of 93 MWp, Fox Coulee powers over 20,000 homes and reduces around 70,000 tons of greenhouse gas emissions annually.

As a key contribution to the Province of Alberta and the federal government’s goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2035, the impact of Fox Coulee goes beyond clean power.

This week’s takes us to Mahone Bay, Nova Scotia, where sustainable energy is taking root. The Solar Farm Mahone Bay, developed by GOLDBECK SOLAR, covers an area of approximately 1.3 hectares and delivers 1.8 MWp of clean power to the community. As part of Nova Scotia’s Community Solar Gardens Program - alongside projects in Berwick and Antigonish - Mahone Bay helps expand access to renewable energy and empowers local residents to actively participate in the province’s green energy future.

We’re proud to contribute to a cleaner, more sustainable Nova Scotia - one community at a time.

It’s time for this week’s !

The Youngstown Solar Farm in Alberta, Canada, is a key project delivered by GOLDBECK SOLAR in partnership with
PACE Canada LP. Boasting an installed capacity of 7.85 MWp, Youngstown provides around 13,000 megawatt hours of clean electricity annually - enough to power nearly 1,900 households. A fun fact: the solar park was built through the challenging Canadian winter and finished on schedule, cutting over 6,700 tons of CO₂ emissions annually. This project is just the beginning of a robust pipeline supporting Alberta’s clean energy transition.
