Team 610: Coyotes

Team 610: Coyotes Team 610: The Coyotes is an FRC Robotics Team located at Crescent School in Toronto. Crescent is an independent boys' school for Grades 3 to 12.

Consisting of 40 high school students and 5 mentors, Team 610 strives for excellence through passion, dedication, and teamwork. The FIRST Robotics Competition is an international high school robotics competition organized by FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology). Each year, teams of high school students compete to build robots weighing up to 120 pounds (54 kg), not incl

uding battery and bumpers, that can complete a task, which changes every year. Teams are given a standard set of parts and the game details at the beginning of January and are given six weeks to construct a competitive robot, that can operate autonomously as well as when guided by wireless controls, to accomplish the game's tasks. Students work with talented mentors to build amazing robots each and every year for 6 weeks, and then travels around North America to compete. As well as being involved in the First Robotics Competition (FRC), Team 610 participates in the First Lego League. The FIRST Lego League (also known by the acronym FLL) is an international competition organized by FIRST for elementary and middle school students (ages 9–14 in the USA and Canada)
In September each year, a new challenge is announced that focuses on a different real-world topic related to the sciences. Each challenge within the competition then revolves around that theme. The robotics part of the competition revolves around designing and programming Lego Robots to complete tasks. The students work out solutions to the various problems they are given and then meet for regional tournaments to share their knowledge, compare ideas, and display their robots. Team 610 hosts the only student-run FLL tournament in Toronto every November. During build season (January to Mid February) a group of dedicated individuals create the best robot we can to play and win the competition. We couldn't do it without the support and knowledge of our parents and mentors. Thank you to everyone who makes this team possible! But the season doesn't end after we build the robot. Competition is equally time consuming and as important as the 6 weeks that go into the robot. We have a full strategy division, scouting division, pit crew, and drive team. For the past 3 years we have been regional finalists. 2012 was the first Regional we won for 10 years and the team is ecstatic. Again, thanks to everyone who supports Team 610 in its endeavour of providing a hands-on, meaningful experience for the many people involved! Achievements:
