What does it take to turn a bold sustainability goal into a net-zero reality?

The City of Edmonton supported a sustainable design approach for the Windermere Fire Station, including a full geothermal system with 35 boreholes that provide year-round heating and cooling.

Armstrong recommended Design Envelope solutions along with our cloud analytics platform, which together reduced HVAC space requirements, simplified installation, and enabled remote HVAC performance monitoring and troubleshooting.

The result: Edmonton’s first net-zero building, designed to perform 40% better than the National Energy Code of Canada for Buildings 2011.

Why coordination matters in hydronic system control.

In conventional systems, pressure, temperature, and flow are often managed by separate PID loops. Each loop responds only after deviation occurs, with limited awareness of system-wide impact.
