🔍 Most people look at a louver and just see a vent. In reality, it’s a critical part of the building envelope system.
Louvers are designed to allow airflow into mechanical spaces while still helping protect the building from water intrusion, snow, debris, and weather exposure. But what many people don’t realize is how much precision goes into tying these systems into the surrounding air/vapour barrier, insulation, subframing, and cladding assemblies.
Improper detailing around penetrations and louvers is one of the biggest causes of long-term moisture and envelope failures on commercial buildings.
