Milton Grenville Grew designed this home in 1967 for a Waterbury dentist Carl Rosa and his wife Virginia. The house is now on the market and it doesn't look like anything substantial has changed since it was first constructed.

This 4280 square feet Single Family home has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. It is located at 611 Bunker Hill Ave, Waterbury, CT.

Recently I was in Hamden, CT doing a records search of microfilm from the town building department and as I am scrolling through countless archived drawings of buildings I come up a set of drawings that got my interest. Almost as soon as I saw the neat, meticulous and beautiful drafting quality of the drawings, I thought this has to be my father's drafting. Sure enough, on the elevations drawing is see his initials MGG from 1964 when I was three years old. The building project was the original Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Hamden. It was a great experience to stumble upon this and a reminder that my hand drafting never was of the quality of his, even thought he was my drafting instructor. He would tell you that I had a better understanding of design, engineering, and codes, but I will tell you he had a far better way of expressing it on paper.

In 1996 Milton Grew was featured in Autodesk's magazine Education by Design for his participation in an online distance learning course in AutoCAD which was being pioneered in Canada. Milton was 62 at that time and became so proficient in AutoCAD that all of his subsequent design projects for about the next 19 years were prepared using the software.

While Milton was attending conventions of Jehovah's Witnesses across Africa with his family in 1969, he sketched the preliminary elevation for what was to be a new residence building at Watchtower facilities in Wallkill, NY. The photo above is the completed building. You can see that a story was added between sketch and completed project.
