BC Hydro’s solar and battery rebate program now requires all installations (as of June 1, 2026) to be completed by a certified Home Performance Contractor Network (HPCN) member — contractors who have met training, insurance, and WorkSafeBC standards. Rebate amounts vary by customer type: residential customers can receive up to $5,000 for solar and $5,000 for battery storage; multi-family and businesses up to $10,000 each; social housing up to $50,000 each; and remote microgrid residential customers up to $20,000 each. Battery-only systems are no longer eligible (as of April 1, 2026) — batteries must be paired with solar. To receive the full battery rebate, homeowners must enroll in BC Hydro’s Peak Saver program. Pre-approval is required before purchasing any equipment, and a new self-generation rate structure (Rate Schedule 2289) now applies to all rebate recipients
