🎉 Congratulations to Gitanyow on the grand opening of the Gitanyow Hereditary Chiefs Office and the Sindihl House of Learning!

This inspiring new space honours the legacy of Sindihl (Robert W. Good) and reflects generations of leadership, cultural strength, and community vision. The House of Learning will create new opportunities for youth, adults, and Elders to learn, grow, and stay connected to Gitanyow identity and traditions in the heart of the territory.

At the grand opening on July 15, 2026, leaders and employees from Newmont's Brucejack Mine and Vancouver office joined Gitanyow in celebrating this important milestone. Newmont is grateful to have shared in the celebration and proud to support this community-led project.

Thank you to the Gitanyow Hereditary Chiefs, Huwilp, Elders, knowledge holders, and community members whose vision, leadership, and dedication made this achievement possible.

Today marks a significant milestone for the Red Chris Block Cave project, as Newmont welcomes the Province of British Columbia’s approval of key regulatory authorizations. This important step brings the project closer to a final investment decision later this year.

This marks a major next step in the transition of the Red Chris Mine from open-pit operations to block caving, extending mine life into the mid-2040s and unlocking the long-term potential of this world-class mineral resource.

Delivered through a consent-based process with the Tahltan Nation, this milestone reflects our shared commitment to responsible resource development, Indigenous partnership, and creating lasting value in northwest British Columbia.

We look forward to continuing this work with our partners, communities, and stakeholders.

🎉 Mining for Miracles Success! 🎉

Please join us in congratulating Steve Petrofes, Mark Kiessling, Nathan L'Heureux, Sylvain Latulippe, and Lyle Prescott for their outstanding efforts in support of Mining for Miracles.

Together, they raised an incredible $61,758 in support of the Center for Health Complexity at BC Children’s Hospital, helping fund complex pediatric health care, life-saving research, and essential medical equipment for children and families across British Columbia. 💙

This remarkable achievement reflects the generosity, leadership, and community spirit that makes Newmont such special places to work. Through their dedication and commitment, they have made a meaningful difference in the lives of many people.

👏 Thank you, Steve, Mark, Nathan, Sylvain, and Lyle, and our business partners for your support and making a positive impact beyond our operation.

With support from Newmont and MineralsEd, 295 students from the Nass Valley, Gitanyow, Hazelton and Tahltan Territory took part in a hands-on classroom experience that brought learning to life. 🌟
WHAT IS MineralsEd?
MineralsEd is a B.C.-based educational organization that helps bring Earth science, mineral resources, and mining education into classrooms. Through interactive activities, students explored rocks and minerals, learned how geologists better understand the land and its resources, and discovered how mining connects to everyday life and the communities we call home.

✨⛏️The April visit gave students a chance to connect classroom learning to real-world experiences and opened the door to conversations about future opportunities in mining and geoscience.

By working with hands-on materials and industry-focused activities, students built a stronger connection to the natural resources that support communities across British Columbia and gained a better understanding of the opportunities that exist close to home in the Nass Valley, Gitanyow, Hazelton and Tahltan Territory. 🌿🏔️🤝

🏆 We’re proud to share that our Brucejack and Red Chris Mine Rescue Teams brought home a total of nine awards at this year’s Mine Rescue Competition in Penticton, BC.

Last week, Newmont was pleased to welcome the Hon. Tim Hodgson, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Canada and the Hon. Jagrup Brar, Minister of Mining and Critical Minerals for a three-day tour of Northwest British Columbia, including our Brucejack and Red Chris operations. A key stop was also Stewart Bulk Terminal, a partnership between the Nisga’a Lisims Government, Tahltan Nation Development Corporation, and Arrow Transportation.

The visit was an opportunity to showcase the incredible potential of Northwest BC as a globally significant critical minerals region that is home to 75% of Canada’s copper resources. With abundant mineral endowment, the availability of clean hydroelectric power, deep-water port access serving as an export gateway to Asia, and Indigenous economic leadership, the region is uniquely positioned to become a world-class Tier 1 mining district.

At Red Chris, we discussed Newmont’s proposed Block Cave Project, which is expected to extend the mine life by approximately 14 years and increase Canada’s copper production by roughly 15%. We were also pleased to highlight other major projects in the region, including the Galore Creek project, our joint-venture with Teck Resources and one of the world’s largest undeveloped copper deposits.

A key focus of our discussions was the importance of infrastructure investment. Strategic investments in roads, transmission lines, telecommunications, and port infrastructure have the potential to unlock long-term economic opportunities, strengthen local communities, and support Canada’s role as a reliable supplier of critical minerals to the world.

Thank you to everyone who helped make the visit a success, and in particular to the Tahltan Leadership Council for joining the tour along the way and helping to showcase the powerful decade long story of economic partnership and co-management at the Red Chris Mine. The tour highlighted how strong communities, collaboration, and shared stewardship will be foundational to the long-term success of responsible mining development in the region.
