🎉 Mining for Miracles Success! 🎉

Please join us in congratulating Steve Petrofes, Mark Kiessling, Nathan L'Heureux, Sylvain Latulippe, and Lyle Prescott for their outstanding efforts in support of Mining for Miracles.

Together, they raised an incredible $61,758 in support of the Center for Health Complexity at BC Children’s Hospital, helping fund complex pediatric health care, life-saving research, and essential medical equipment for children and families across British Columbia. 💙

This remarkable achievement reflects the generosity, leadership, and community spirit that makes Newmont such special places to work. Through their dedication and commitment, they have made a meaningful difference in the lives of many people.

👏 Thank you, Steve, Mark, Nathan, Sylvain, and Lyle, and our business partners for your support and making a positive impact beyond our operation.

👏 A big thank you as well to TNDC for their generous donation and continued support of this important cause

The new BC Children's Hospital centre for health complexity will be built at East 21st Avenue and Slocan Street in Vancouver. It is slated to open in early 2028. It will be the first centre of its kind in Canada.

With support from Newmont and MineralsEd, 295 students from the Nass Valley, Gitanyow, Hazelton and Tahltan Territory took part in a hands-on classroom experience that brought learning to life. 🌟
WHAT IS MineralsEd?
MineralsEd is a B.C.-based educational organization that helps bring Earth science, mineral resources, and mining education into classrooms. Through interactive activities, students explored rocks and minerals, learned how geologists better understand the land and its resources, and discovered how mining connects to everyday life and the communities we call home.

✨⛏️The April visit gave students a chance to connect classroom learning to real-world experiences and opened the door to conversations about future opportunities in mining and geoscience.

By working with hands-on materials and industry-focused activities, students built a stronger connection to the natural resources that support communities across British Columbia and gained a better understanding of the opportunities that exist close to home in the Nass Valley, Gitanyow, Hazelton and Tahltan Territory. 🌿🏔️🤝

⛏️ Congratulations to our Mine Rescue Teams!

🏆 We’re proud to share that our Brucejack and Red Chris Mine Rescue Teams brought home a total of nine awards at this year’s Mine Rescue Competition in Penticton, BC.

The Brucejack team also received a standing ovation for stepping in to provide first aid during two unexpected medical emergencies in the community. Their quick action and professionalism made a real difference when it mattered most.

👏 Please join us in congratulating our outstanding teams from Red Chris and Brucejack. We’re incredibly proud of their achievements and their commitment to safety, both on and off the job.

Last week, Newmont was pleased to welcome the Hon. Tim Hodgson, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Canada and the Hon. Jagrup Brar, Minister of Mining and Critical Minerals for a three-day tour of Northwest British Columbia, including our Brucejack and Red Chris operations. A key stop was also Stewart Bulk Terminal, a partnership between the Nisga’a Lisims Government, Tahltan Nation Development Corporation, and Arrow Transportation.

The visit was an opportunity to showcase the incredible potential of Northwest BC as a globally significant critical minerals region that is home to 75% of Canada’s copper resources. With abundant mineral endowment, the availability of clean hydroelectric power, deep-water port access serving as an export gateway to Asia, and Indigenous economic leadership, the region is uniquely positioned to become a world-class Tier 1 mining district.

At Red Chris, we discussed Newmont’s proposed Block Cave Project, which is expected to extend the mine life by approximately 14 years and increase Canada’s copper production by roughly 15%. We were also pleased to highlight other major projects in the region, including the Galore Creek project, our joint-venture with Teck Resources and one of the world’s largest undeveloped copper deposits.

A key focus of our discussions was the importance of infrastructure investment. Strategic investments in roads, transmission lines, telecommunications, and port infrastructure have the potential to unlock long-term economic opportunities, strengthen local communities, and support Canada’s role as a reliable supplier of critical minerals to the world.

Thank you to everyone who helped make the visit a success, and in particular to the Tahltan Leadership Council for joining the tour along the way and helping to showcase the powerful decade long story of economic partnership and co-management at the Red Chris Mine. The tour highlighted how strong communities, collaboration, and shared stewardship will be foundational to the long-term success of responsible mining development in the region.

⚡A big thank‑you to CIBC for recently hosting the 3rd annual Electrification Summit in Toronto and for inviting Newmont's Brucejack General Manager, Mark Kiessling, to join the panel “Digging Deep: The Electrification Challenge Facing Canadian Mining.”

We were pleased to join industry partners in discussing how Canada’s mining sector is powering the transition to a low‑carbon future. With over 350 attendees and strong engagement, the conversation around electrification has never been more important.

Mark spoke to how, at Brucejack Mine, we’re already putting innovation into action with our fleet of Sandvik electric trucks and electric loader, demonstrating how electrified equipment can reduce emissions, improve underground conditions, and support a more sustainable mining future.

Newmont is proud to help drive the future of responsible mining in Canada!

At the 2026 Regional Career Expo & Forum in Terrace, BC on May 8, Newmont representatives enjoyed connecting with jobseekers and community partners alike. From youth exploring mining careers to jobseekers with résumés in hand, local entrepreneurs asking about procurement, and elders seeking updates on Red Chris and Brucejack, the Newmont booth stayed busy all day.

Many attendees shared stories about friends and family who work at our sites and enjoy it, adding to the strong community energy at this well attended career fair. Events like this highlight the power of collaboration and the importance of local workforce development.

A big thank you to K5T, WorkBC, Nisg̱a’a Employment, Skills & Training (NEST), the Terrace Chamber of Commerce, and the Kitselas Nation for bringing everyone together to explore opportunities, share knowledge, and build brighter futures. 💫

🌄 The Newmont team had a wonderful time in Smithers recently at the Minerals North Conference, from May 6-8, 2026. As one of Western Canada’s largest northern mining gatherings and a truly community‑driven event, Minerals North is unique in the way host communities across northern BC bring warmth, hospitality, and local pride to the experience, making it stand apart from any other mining conference in the province.

The conference offered valuable opportunities to connect with delegates, suppliers, partners, and industry colleagues, while also learning more about the economic and policy issues shaping the minerals sector. It’s an important forum for communities to showcase their capacity to support the industry, and for industry partners like Newmont to better understand local priorities and goals.

We were excited to have a firsthand look at one of the newest pieces of MacLean equipment destined for our Brucejack Mine, and to hear Sabrina Lakhani, Lead of Social Performance for Brucejack, speak with enthusiasm about the future of Newmont in Canada to attendees.👏
