There’s no better time than now to invest in American potash.
With the looming tariffs coming into effect, a 10% additional tax on Canadian potash will be passed on to American farmers starting early next month. Unfortunately, few farmers can afford paying this markup, especially those who grow corn — the U.S.‘s largest crop. Fertilizer accounts for 45% of operating expenses for U.S. corn farmers.
In addition to the implications this has on farmers’ financial stability, making potash more expensive compromises access to fertilizer, which could then have a negative impact on soil health. In turn, this will determine whether soil stores carbon or releases it into the atmosphere.
The dependence our country has on international supplies is now being felt by farmers across the country. At Sage Potash, we’re creating a future for American farmers that offers a domestic supply that they can afford and rely on for generations to come.
