It’s that time of year again! This November, Team McElhanney is proud to once again join the Movember movement to help change the face of men’s health.

Some of the most enthusiastic supporters of the new Galloping Goose Trail Bridge weren’t engineers or City of Colwood staff—they were seniors with lawn chairs and front-row seats!

Throughout construction, residents from West Shore Village gathered along the fence line to watch the bridge rise day by day, cheering on milestones and getting to know the construction crew by name.

Earlier this year, they closed the loop—joining City leaders and project partners as honoured guests at the ribbon-cutting, and becoming the first to cross the bridge they’d been watching take shape for months.

It’s a reminder that infrastructure isn’t just about steel and concrete. It’s about connection, routine, and the everyday moments it supports.

We were proud to support the City of Colwood as owner’s representative on this project—and even prouder to see it already becoming part of daily life for the community it serves.

Team McElhanney has topped the fundraising charts at Cheryl’s Run once again!

On September 26, our team gathered at Laurier Park in Edmonton for the event’s 10th anniversary, raising $9,229.25 to support the Awasisak Indigenous Health Program at the Stollery Children’s Hospital. Team McElhanney contributed more than half of the approximately $16,000 raised across the event and, over the past three years, has raised and donated $26,478.76 through Cheryl’s Run.

From individual donations to the Taco-in-a-Bag lunch fundraiser, this accomplishment reflects the generosity of employees, friends, families, and supporters. We’re also proud to celebrate Mike Pearson and Jason Tao, who secured two of the event’s top three individual fundraising spots!

Thank you to everyone who walked, ran, donated, attended the lunch, or helped spread the word. Together, you helped support culturally-sensitive care and practical, emotional, and spiritual assistance for Indigenous children and families navigating the health care system.

Congratulations to McElhanney’s Nanaimo and Victoria branches on receiving a 2026 Climate & Energy Action Award from the Community Energy Association for the Tillicum Green Infrastructure Project!

Working alongside the District of Saanich, the Greater Victoria School District, MDI Landscape Architects, and project partners, McElhanney served as the prime consultant and lead designer for improvements that have made the area around Tillicum Elementary School safer, greener, and more resilient.

The completed project includes more than a dozen rain gardens, 100+ trees, and 1,200 shrubs that help manage stormwater, provide shade, support biodiversity, and create a more comfortable neighbourhood for students, families, and residents.

Congratulations to the entire project team and everyone who helped bring this work to life!

We had a fantastic time at the Girls in STEAM Summit at Science World this month!

It was inspiring to meet so many bright, curious young people and share what a career in engineering can look like. From great conversations to thoughtful questions, the energy throughout the day was incredible.

Thank you to Science World, STEMCELL Technologies, and everyone who helped bring this event to life. We're grateful to have been part of an experience that encourages more young people to envision a future in STEAM.

Tomorrow is World Mental Health Day, an opportunity to recognize the importance of mental wellbeing and the value of listening to one another's experiences.

This year's theme, Lived Experiences Heard: Real Voices, Real Change, encourages us to learn from the different ways people care for their mental health and navigate life's challenges.

We invited members of the McElhanney team to share what helps them reset, recharge, and stay connected, whether that's spending time with family, getting outdoors, practicing positive affirmations, or building community through shared interests.

There were two reasons to celebrate at last weekend’s Transportation Association of Canada (TAC) Awards Ceremony in Winnipeg!

The Highway 7 Seabird Bluff Slide Recovery Project received TAC’s 2026 Climate Action Achievement Award. Led by the British Columbia Ministry of Transportation and Transit, the project brought together , Thuber, Tetra Tech, Stantec, and Stqo:Ya to help restore and strengthen a critical transportation connection following the 2021 atmospheric river event.

TAC's Revisions and Additions Subcommittee also received the 2026 Committee Excellence Award under the leadership of Dave Dulay, McElhanney's Vice President of Major Project Delivery and Chair of the Subcommittee.

Congratulations to Dave and his fellow Subcommittee members, and thank you to the BC Ministry of Transportation and Transit and our project partners for the opportunity to contribute to work that will help keep Highway 7 open, reliable, and ready for the years ahead.
