A little dirt, a little clay, and a lot of curiosity! Our Prince George team brought soil science to life at The Exploration Place Science Alliance Summer Camps, where young STEAM learners explored test pitting, soil samples, clay experiments, and creative clay figurines. From “Miner Matt” to “The Dirt Wizard,” the campers had a memorable look at the science beneath their feet.

Thanks to the team for helping make learning so hands-on and fun!

Today, on National Intern Day, we're celebrating the students who bring fresh ideas, curiosity, and energy to our teams every day! They ask great questions, jump into new experiences, and remind us that learning never stops.

Here's what Hannah Searls, now an Engineering Tech in our Prince George office, shared about her experience as a McElhanney student who completed three internship terms with our team: “McElhanney has trusted me with meaningful projects and responsibilities while providing a support system I know I can rely on. Along the way, I’ve learned the small but important lessons that come with starting out in the industry, like how PPE is both a safety essential and a fashion statement, and how the dirt on the ground can tell you more than you might expect. I couldn’t imagine a better place to take my first steps in the industry.”

Big shout-out to all interns – you're the future of our industry, and we're proud to be part of your journey!

Last week, employees from across our Vancouver teams came together for our annual Summer BBQ, joined by our CEO & President and Vancouver-based Executive Vice Presidents. It was a great opportunity to take a break, enjoy the summer weather, and connect with colleagues from across teams. Thanks to the Vancouver Social Committee who helped make it happen. ☀️🌭

McElhanney is proud to support Engineers in Action Okanagan and returning Kamloops summer students who recently travelled to Peru to help construct a 65.5-metre suspended bridge across Rio Blanco.

This new bridge creates a safer, year-round route between Aguas Calientes and two neighbouring villages, supporting access to essential resources when the river floods during the rainy season.

Congratulations to the Engineers in Action Okanagan team on this meaningful project!

The cowboy boots may be getting packed away, but we're still in high spirits about a great morning at the Canadian Association of Land and Energy Professionals (CALEP) Stampede Breakfast!

Last week, our VP of Energy & Resources and team traded keyboards for cooktops, helping flip pancakes, cook breakfast, pour cowboy coffee, and spend time with friends and colleagues from across Canada's land and energy sector.

A big thank you to CALEP for hosting another fantastic event and to everyone who stopped by to share in the Stampede spirit. Until next year! 🤠🥞☕

We’re excited to share that two McElhanney projects — the Burnaby Lake Pedestrian Overpass and Tank Hill Project: BC Highway Reinstatement Program — were featured in the summer 2026 edition of Engineers and Geoscientists BC’s Innovation Magazine!

McElhanney is also proud to have provided technical advisory services for the Fraser Surrey Port Lands Transportation Improvements, as well as project management, civil engineering, environmental, and construction services for the Cold Creek Debris Flow Mitigation project.

This recognition highlights the impactful work our teams and partners are delivering across B.C. Congratulations to all those involved in these innovative projects!
