How do you run a pick and place system that can handle up to 40 different glass bottle shapes, safely and repeatably, straight from cartons into a filling line?

In this application, traditional aluminum or POM grippers cost up to $260 each and were wearing out daily after ~20,000 cycles.

💡The fix: 3D printed grippers made from iglide® i3 SLS material
✅ Up to 6x longer service life, up to 130,000 cycles
✅ Up to 90% lower part cost, about $15 per gripper
✅ Fast iteration for multiple bottle geometries

Recently, we had the pleasure of hosting Jan Hennecke, Business Unit Manager LCA/RBTX, at our igus Canada headquarters in Vaughan.

During his visit, Jan spent several days working alongside our broader team—an opportunity that allowed for meaningful collaboration and a closer look at how we support automation initiatives locally.

He also connected with our Automation Sales Specialist, Faye Pakzad, to exchange insights and align on ongoing efforts within the RBTX ecosystem.

We captured a few moments in our fully equipped RBTX space within the IMPS room, located just across from our main office.

These images reflect the way our teams engage: we work hard and we keep things light.

Thanks for visiting, Jan, and we look forward to hosting you again soon.

Cables used in energy chains and other motion-driven systems face very different stresses than static installations—tight bend radii, high speeds and accelerations, and millions of cycles over their lifetime.

Selecting the wrong cable can shorten service life significantly and introduce avoidable failure points.

Relying solely on UL or CSA ratings isn’t enough.

Even labels like “high flex” can be misleading if they aren’t aligned with the realities of continuous dynamic movement.

We’ve put together a detailed guide outlining what to look for in continuous-motion flex cables, including key design and material considerations that directly impact performance and longevity.

If preventing avoidable downtime is a priority, this is a useful read to keep on hand.
