UVic’s Earthquake Engineering Research Institute (EERI) Student Chapter (UVic Seismic) invites you to a guest lecture by Jay Wilson, seismic resilience expert and Resilience Coordinator for Clackamas County Disaster Management from Portland, Oregon. He will be presenting on “Aligning seismic risk reduction and climate adaptation for vulnerable fuel storage in Oregon’s critical energy hub.” During a Cascadia Subduction Zone earthquake, over 400 storage tanks holding 90% of Oregon’s petroleum will be subjected to potential cascading failures that could likely create the worst oil spill in U.S. history.
