Adam has been a valued part of the Astron team for 28 years and is proud to represent the third generation of family ownership. As our Associate Vice President, Facilities & Materials Manager, he helps oversee our facilities, materials, and day-to-day operations, ensuring everything is in place for our team and customers to succeed. A key part of his role is keeping our buildings and equipment running smoothly by managing preventative maintenance programs, coordinating required inspections, and ensuring our facilities remain safe, efficient, and operating at their best.

is the friendly force behind the scenes, keeping things running smoothly as our Administrative Assistant. With incredible organization, a positive attitude, and a knack for bringing people together, she helps keep our office running efficiently every day.

Around Astron, she's known as our unofficial CMO: Chief Morale Officer. Whether she's celebrating team achievements, helping organize company events, creating employee engagement initiatives, or finding creative ways to engage employees and customers, Lorianne is always working to strengthen connections and keep spirits high. She's also the face behind our social media, helping share Astron's story, celebrate our people, and showcase what makes our team special. Although we observed Canada Day on Monday, June 29 as a company , we kept the celebration going with refreshing virgin strawberry daiquiris to cool everyone off on July 1! 🍓🥤

This Father’s Day, we extend our heartfelt appreciation to all fathers, grandfathers, and father figures, especially to the many dads on our Astron team. Thank you for the dedication, guidance, and support you provide both at work and at home. The values you pass on help shape future generations and strengthen our communities.

This year, we also remember one of our founders, Steve Schatz, whose legacy continues through three generations of family and the values that remain at the heart of Astron.

In Loving Memory of Steve Schatz ( loving known as Dad & Oti )

It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of Steve Schatz, one of the beloved founders of Astron Specialty Metals.

Steve was more than a founder—he was a visionary, a mentor, and a friend to many. Through his dedication, passion, and unwavering commitment, he helped build Astron into the company it is today. His leadership, integrity, and belief in people created a foundation that continues to guide us every day.

For those who had the privilege of knowing and working alongside Steve, he will be remembered not only for his business accomplishments but also for his kindness, generosity, and genuine care for others. He touched the lives of countless employees, customers, suppliers, and friends throughout his journey.

As we mourn this tremendous loss, we also celebrate Steve's life, his legacy, and the lasting impact he made on our company and on all of us personally. His vision and values will remain an important part of Astron's future, and his memory will continue to inspire us.

Our thoughts and deepest condolences are with the Schatz, Rich, Kube, and Voll families, as well as all those who knew and loved Steve during this difficult time.

👋 Meet our co-op student, Alaaeddin Alzarie!

Since joining us in early March for his co-op placement, Alaaeddin has demonstrated a consistent approach to his tasks and a willingness to learn. As an Administrative Assistant, he has helped keep projects and information organized while developing his Excel skills to support various data-related projects. He has also utilized Canva to assist with social media content and management.

Outside of work, Alaaeddin enjoys playing soccer ⚽, playing chess ♟️, and spending time with friends.

As his co-op placement wraps up in late June, we want to thank Alaaeddin for all of his hard work and contributions. We’re proud to support students through the Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program (OYAP) and provide valuable hands-on learning opportunities.
