Our team had a blast at the Women in Construction Foundations to Grow event this week!

From Marketing to Estimating, Drafting to Project Management, our team showed up, got creative (turns out we’re pretty solid terrarium builders 🌿), and enjoyed some well-earned time together outside the office.

It was also a great opportunity to connect and network with other incredible women in the industry. It’s always inspiring to share experiences and build new relationships.

What is a Raft Slab … and Why Does It Matter?



Our team recently completed a major raft slab foundation pour. A raft slab is a single, heavily reinforced concrete slab that supports an entire building footprint. Instead of individual footings, the building loads are distributed across one structural plate, improving stability and preventing the building from settling unevenly over time.

Why use one?

✔️ Spreads load evenly across challenging soils
✔️ Reduces long-term settlement risk
✔️ Creates a stable, integrated base for the superstructure
✔️ Ideal for multi-storey and total precast systems

Foundations don’t always get the spotlight, but they set the stage for everything that follows. Precision below grade = performance above grade.

After listening to Chief Economist Pierre Cléroux on the 2026 outlook, the message was clear:
