Harvest means long days, big equipment and little room for error.

Each year, Wild Rose responds to powerline contacts caused by farm equipment getting too close, and fall harvest is one of the highest-risk times.

Before heading into the field:

• Look up and identify overhead lines.
• Plan your route before moving equipment.
• Lower augers, seeders and sprayers during transport.
• Use a spotter
• Keep equipment a safe distance from poles, lines and electrical equipment.

If your equipment contacts a powerline, stay inside. The ground around you may be energized. Call 911 and the REA for assistance and keep everyone at least 10 meters away.

If a fire or another emergency forces you out, jump clear without touching the equipment and ground at the same time. Land with both feet together and shuffle or hop away.

A few extra minutes can prevent an outage, costly damage—or a serious injury.

Meet Dave — the Wild Rose Pole Top Rescue Safety Dummy. 👷‍♂️⚡

Dave may not say much, but he plays an important role in helping keep our crews safe.

At our yard, we have a training pole set up for mock emergency scenarios so our Power Line Technicians can practice how to respond quickly, safely and effectively if a real-life incident ever occurs.

Earlier this month, our PLTs put their training to work by safely rescuing Dave from the top of the pole.

While we hope these skills are never needed in an actual emergency, regular hands-on training helps ensure our crews are prepared for the unexpected.

Safety is always a priority at Wild Rose REA — because preparation matters.

This morning, the Wild Rose team was proud to take part in the Westlock Ag Fair Parade — and what a turnout!

We saw so many familiar faces, including Members and families who have been part of Wild Rose for generations. That is what rural community is all about — showing up, supporting one another, and giving back to the places we call home.

Thank you, Westlock, for another great parade and for reminding us why we love being part of this community. 💙

We’re proud to support Westlock & District FCSS with passes to the Westlock Fair, helping make sure more people in our community can enjoy a great local event this weekend.

We don’t just serve this community — we live here, work here and raise our families here. That’s why supporting local organizations and giving back is simply part of who we are.

We’re always proud to invest in the people and organizations that help make rural Alberta strong.

Today, we’re pleased to support the Barrhead Agricultural Society and the dedicated volunteers behind the upcoming Blue Heron Fair & Rodeo. Our CEO, Kayla St.Pierre, recently met with Ag Society volunteer Tayler Measures to celebrate that partnership and recognize the work being done to keep our community connected and thriving for generations to come.

Strong rural communities are built through local commitment, volunteerism and people showing up for one another and we are proud to be part of it. 💙

We hope to see many of our Members at the Barrhead Parade this Saturday and throughout the Blue Heron Fair and Rodeo August 8-9, 2026!

💙 THANK YOU TO OUR TEAM AND MEMBERS 💙

The July 28th storm may have been short in duration, but it was extremely powerful and the impact across our service area was significant.

A heartfelt thank you to our Powerline Technicians and staff for their dedication, teamwork and tireless efforts throughout the restoration response. Our crews worked tirelessly through difficult conditions, and complex repairs to safely restore power to our Members. Their hard work and commitment to the communities we serve are deeply appreciated.

We also extend our sincere thanks to our Members. We understand that being without power is never easy or convenient, and we are grateful for the patience, kindness and understanding shown while our team worked to safely restore service.

It is during challenging moments like these that the strength of our cooperative and our wonderful community truly shines.
