Another update from Whitby.

We’re about 20% through the racking reinstall on this repower project now.

Honestly, this is the kind of work people don’t really think about when they picture commercial solar. Everyone sees panels going up. What they don’t see is all the coordination underneath it.

Every section of racking means moving river rock around carefully to stay within the engineer’s roof loading requirements. At the same time, we’re coordinating with the HVAC crew so they can relocate the gas line before we push further into the south side of the roof.

A lot of little moving pieces. Timing matters. Details matter.

That’s the reality of projects like this. It’s rarely one trade working alone. It’s a bunch of teams working together, so the project keeps moving safely and efficiently.

Slowly but surely, this 330 kW system is turning into 660 kW on the same footprint.

Most commercial solar projects claiming the 30% ITC should expect CRA audits.

We’ve now completed our first batch of successful CRA audit reviews for customers, and one thing became very clear:

Documentation and compliance matter.

The CRA is reviewing prevailing wage records, labor classifications, timesheets, payroll documentation, and supporting project records tied to the claim.

Commercial solar is no longer only about installation. It’s about ex*****on, compliance, and audit readiness.

We shared what we learned in our latest blog.

Progress update from Whitby.

We’ve officially hit another milestone on this repower.

100% of the rails are now removed and stacked. What’s left on the roof is the final layer… ballast (stones) and wire trays.

Next focus:

• Stack and remove ~900 ballast stones

• Clear remaining trays

• Clean out all leftover hardware and wiring

Step by step, we’re stripping this system down to nothing… so we can build it back properly.

That’s how you go from 330 kW to 660 kW on the same roof.

Quick update from Whitby.

Panel removal is complete.

What you’re looking at here is the reset point.
The existing 330 kW system is now fully stripped, and the AC side has been completely decommissioned and removed.

No shortcuts on a repower like this.
You don’t build on top of the past system… you clear it out and do it right.

Now it’s a clean slate.

From here, everything starts moving in the other direction.
New racking. New electrical. New modules. And ultimately, double the capacity going back onto the same roof.

660 kW, same footprint.

This is where the transition happens.

Day one of a repower always tells you everything you need to know about a project.

We’re in Whitby right now, starting a full removal and reinstallation on a commercial rooftop system. What used to be a 330 kW system is about to become 660 kW… on the exact same footprint.

That’s the reality of where solar is today.

Same roof.
Same space.
Double the output.

It also means tighter layouts, more coordination, and a lot happening at once. Crews on the roof, crane lifting material, electrical getting staged. Organized chaos, but it’s how these projects come together.

What stands out isn’t the scale, it’s the shift.

A few years ago, systems like this were “good enough.”
Today, they’re being upgraded because the economics have changed. More efficient panels. Better hardware. Stronger returns.

Repowering is becoming part of the strategy.

Not replacing solar… optimizing it.

More to come as this one takes shape.

Snowstorm service call. Real-world problems.

We were out in Barrie last week, dealing with a system issue you don’t always see coming.

A section of critter guard had come loose after heavy snow sliding off the panels. That created just enough space for rodents to move in and nest beneath the array.

No damage to wiring or system components

Nest removed safely and humanely

Critter guard fully reinstalled and secured

No extra charges. No shortcuts.

This is the kind of work that doesn’t always get talked about, but it’s part of keeping systems performing the way they should over time.

Install is one thing.

Maintaining it properly is where the real value shows up.

Is your solar installer still around to maintain your system?

Not every solar install is simple… and that’s where experience matters.

This system in Fort Erie is a 16 kW solar setup paired with a 10 kWh battery, built with:
• 32 high-efficiency panels
• Growatt inverter and battery system

The challenge?
The electrical setup.

Everything had to fit into a very tight space with:
• Multiple components grouped together
• Limited clearance
• Large service cables that are difficult to route

There was no room for shortcuts. It had to be done properly.

The result:
A clean-looking system on the outside…
and a carefully executed install behind the scenes.

That’s what good solar work looks like.

Thinking about solar or battery storage?
Make sure you’re working with a team that knows how to handle the complicated parts.

Hotels never really turn off.

Between HVAC systems, kitchens, laundry operations, pools, and lighting, electricity is running around the clock. That steady demand means energy costs can have a real impact on operating margins.

Across Ontario, many hotel owners are starting to look at solar differently. Instead of seeing it only as a green upgrade, they are viewing it as a way to bring more stability to long-term energy costs.

We explore this shift in our latest blog.

Good solar installs are easy to spot.

These photos show a recent residential installation where attention to detail mattered:

➕ Clean conduit runs.

➕ Proper cable management.

➕ Quality equipment.

➕ Thoughtful placement.

This residential solar + battery installation was completed during an active new home build, working alongside multiple trades on-site.

When the installation is done right, the system looks like it belongs there.

Clean professional work that’s built for long-term performance always shows.

Ontario electricity rates are going up.

Delivery charges are increasing.
Generation costs could be next.

Homeowners will see it on their monthly bills.
Businesses will see it in tighter margins and less predictable operating costs.

Electricity isn’t optional. So what’s the strategy?

Across Ontario, utilities are filing for higher delivery rates, and Ontario Power Generation has applied for increased nuclear payments starting in 2027. These changes may look small at first, but they compound year after year.

In our latest blog, CEO Bobby MacCannell explains what this new phase of electricity pricing means and how solar, battery storage, and smart energy management can reduce your exposure.

If rising rates are on your mind, this is worth a read.
