Lithium-ion battery fires continue to highlight the importance of detecting thermal runaway as early as possible.

One indicator is Hydrogen Fluoride (HF), a hazardous gas that can be released during lithium-ion battery thermal runaway.

The TR10 Warden can be configured with a dedicated HF sensor for applications including battery energy storage systems (BESS), EV infrastructure, battery manufacturing and recycling, and HAZMAT response.

The objective is straightforward: detect HF concentrations and provide an alarm when configured thresholds are reached, giving operators additional information as a battery failure develops.

We’re always excited to see our Scentroid technology being used by independent researchers around the world.

A 2025 study published in Sensors used the Scentroid SM100 Field Olfactometer to measure odour concentrations during research into emissions from the composting process.

The researchers highlighted the SM100’s broad 2–30,000 ou/m³ measurement range, noting that competitors offer a narrower measurement range and lower precision.

The study combined field olfactometry with VOC measurements and electronic nose technology to investigate odour emissions throughout different stages of compost maturation showcasing that established olfactometric methods can work alongside emerging sensor technologies.

It’s great to see Scentroid equipment continuing to support independent environmental research and the advancement of odour measurement techniques worldwide.

This is an example of a mining operation we modelled inside SIMS3.

Instead of just displaying sensor locations on a map, our platform created a digital representation of the site by combining multiple data sources into a single operational picture.

In this example, our digital twin is integrating:
