𝗠𝗶𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗳 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗼𝗿 provides safe, accessible and culturally welcoming temporary housing for Red River Métis families travelling to Winnipeg for medical care — helping them stay close to loved ones while accessing treatment.

Developed by the 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗼𝗯𝗮 𝗠é𝘁𝗶𝘀 𝗙𝗲𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, the recently completed facility includes 12 residential suites and shared spaces for families to cook, gather, learn, and spend time together.

Working alongside 𝗩𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝗶𝗺𝗲𝗿 𝗔𝗿𝗰𝗵𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 and the project team, SMS Engineering provided mechanical and electrical engineering, energy modelling, and commissioning, with an innovative approach to comfort, indoor air quality, energy performance, and capital cost.

This recently completed transitional housing development in Winnipeg provides culturally supportive housing for women and children, with spaces designed to foster stability, connection, and a sense of community.

SMS Engineering provided the mechanical, electrical, and communications engineering for the development, including HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, lighting, power systems, security, and structured cabling.

Our work also included specialized ventilation systems that accommodate smudging practices while maintaining comfortable, healthy indoor environments.

A meaningful project that will provide safe, culturally responsive housing for families in our community.
