Pollution control is an important application that Northern Blower's high-quality custom industrial fans can perform.

Regenerative Thermal Oxidizers (RTOs) use high temperatures to destroy hazardous air pollutants and odorous emissions from industrial and manufacturing processes.

Thermal oxidization converts these often harmful emissions into carbon dioxide and water vapour. RTOs use the absorptive properties of media beds (often ceramic) to capture the heat from the cleaned emissions and in the next cycle, use that hot bed to preheat the incoming polluted air. Industrial fans typically pull the process air through the RTO and discharge the hot, clean air to the atmosphere.

These fans must be designed according to the maximum potential discharge temperature as well as for any potential corrosive agents that are not resolved by the process.

Northern Blower fans are designed to handle the heat – just like that goalie you can always rely on in a shootout. 🏒

With flu season around the corner, it’s a good time to think about health in the workplace.

At Northern Blower, health and safety is our top priority. While production floor safety gets discussed frequently, it’s also important to consider how we create healthy office spaces.

We encourage social distancing when possible. In our boardroom space, masks are mandatory to help ensure the safety of guests and employees.

And if you’re coming to visit us and you forgot to bring a mask, don’t worry! We always have extras.

This October, we are focusing on safety. At Northern Blower, our top priority is the safety of our employees and clients.

A common cause of injury is with unsafe handling of electricity. It’s important to leave the electrical work to certified and trained electricians.

Becoming familiar with lockout and tag out procedures is important for everyone working near electrical equipment. These procedures ensure that equipment is fully shut down, powered down and unable to start up again until required.

Northern Blower is a proud part of our community.

This month, we are happy to serve as a drop-off point for the Main Street Project Inc. “Socktober” sock drive.

Main Street Project is a local shelter that provides a safe place for those in marginalized communities. MSP aims to collect 30,000 new pairs of socks during October to distribute to those in need during the cold months ahead.

To donate at our drop-off point, please place your new socks (in their original packaging) in the box by our front door at 901 Regent Avenue West in Winnipeg.

Today, Northern Blower’s office will be closed to mark the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. This holiday honours the Survivors of residential schools, their families and communities. More broadly, it acknowledges the legacy of colonialism and its lasting impact on First Nations, Inuit and Métis communities.

Out of respect for the Indigenous Peoples of Manitoba, we at Northern Blower recognize the property we occupy resides on Treaty 1 Land, the traditional territory of the Anishinaabe, Cree, Oji-Cree, Dakota, Lakota, Dene peoples, and the Homeland of the Red River Métis.

Traditional territorial acknowledgements serve as a reminder of the original stewards of this land. It also reminds us of our collective responsibility to learn the stories of how we all came to share this land and reflect upon how we all benefit from the traditional territory of Indigenous Peoples. When we acknowledge treaty land, we should reflect on how our words and actions can move us towards reconciliation as a society.
