💰 Savings Hack: Here’s something many HVAC companies won’t tell you…

You don’t need to pay someone for every part of A/C maintenance.

One of the best things you can do yourself is regularly rinse your outdoor condenser with a garden hose (never a pressure washer). Dirt, grass, cottonwood, and debris block airflow, making your system work harder, use more electricity, and wear out faster.

✅ Turn the power off first.
✅ Gently rinse the coil throughout the cooling season.
✅ Keep shrubs and plants at least 18–24” away for proper airflow.

A clean condenser helps your A/C run more efficiently, lowers energy costs, and can extend the life of your system.

At Fern’s Heating & Air Conditioning, we’d rather help you save money by teaching you the simple maintenance you can safely do yourself—and be there when you need us for the jobs that require a professional.

🔥 We’re Experiencing High Call Volumes 🔥

With this ongoing heat wave, our team is working around the clock to restore comfort to as many families as possible. We sincerely appreciate your patience and understanding as we respond to an unprecedented number of service calls.

📸 This is an actual photo taken yesterday before we repaired one of our customers’ air conditioner. The indoor temperature had reached 90°F (32°C)—a reminder of just how important a properly functioning cooling system is during extreme heat.

You can help reduce the risk of a breakdown by performing a few simple maintenance tasks:
✅ Gently hose off your outdoor air conditioner to remove fluff, dirt, and all other debris.
✅ Replace or clean your furnace filter regularly to ensure proper airflow and system performance.

☎️ For the fastest service, please call us directly at 204-255-2233.

To ensure we can respond as quickly as possible, please avoid sending text messages or Facebook messages, as these communication methods may not be monitored as frequently during this busy period.

Thank you for your continued trust, patience, and support. We’ll continue working as hard as we can to keep everyone cool and comfortable throughout this heat wave.

Washing debris off your outdoor condenser unit is one of the simplest and most important maintenance tasks for an air conditioner

Why it matters

1. Better heat transfer
The outdoor unit’s job is to reject heat from your home. Dirt, grass clippings, cottonwood fluff, leaves, and dust act like insulation on the coil, making it harder for heat to escape.

2. Lower energy bills
When the coil is dirty, the compressor and fan have to work longer and harder to achieve the same cooling. That means higher electrical consumption.

3. Longer equipment life
High operating pressures and temperatures put extra stress on the compressor—the most expensive component in the system. Keeping the coil clean helps reduce wear and tear.

4. Improved cooling performance
A clogged condenser can cause:

* Higher head pressure
* Reduced cooling capacity
* Longer run times
* Poor temperature control indoors

5. Prevents nuisance breakdowns
Severely dirty coils can lead to:

* High-pressure lockouts
* Compressor overheating
* System shutdowns
* Premature component failure

How often?

For most homes:

* Visually inspect monthly during cooling season.
* Rinse the condenser coil 1–3 times per year.
* Clean more often if you’re near trees, cottonwood, construction dust, or if you mow around the unit frequently.

Best way to clean it

1. Shut power off to the outdoor unit.
2. Remove leaves and large debris.
3. Gently rinse from the inside out if possible, or through the coil with a garden hose.
4. Avoid pressure washers—they can bend fins and restrict airflow.
