ARxIUM was formed in 2015 when Intelligent Hospital Systems, Inc. acquired AutoMed Technologies, Inc., creating the most integrated pharmacy solutions company in the industry. Both companies were recognized as leaders in pharmacy technology, offering numerous best-in-category products and software solutions. Founded in 2006 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Intelligent Hospital Systems (IH Systems) began as
a medical device company focused on the design and development of automated solutions for the hospital environment. Boniface Research Centre in Winnipeg, IH Systems developed RIVA technology, a fully automated IV compounding system for syringes and IV bags. Commercialized in 2008, RIVA technology is fully compliant with USP standards for pharmacy compounding and is proven to enhance the safety of compounded medications while also lowering the cost per dose. Based in the Chicago area, AutoMed Technologies, Inc. was established in 1994 with a focus on increasing the efficiency of pharmacy operations through an array of advanced pharmacy automation, prescription fulfillment and distribution systems. It was the only company to serve every segment of the pharmacy market – including retail drug stores, hospitals, long-term care facilities, mail order and more. AutoMed Technologies was acquired by AmerisourceBergen in 2002, which owned the company until its sale to IH Systems in 2015. By integrating the two companies’ products, resources and expertise into a seamless offering, ARxIUM can now provide customers in all pharmacy environments the broadest range of pharmacy technology available, helping to improve patient safety and workflow efficiency, and lowering operating cost.
