For this month's addition of INFORS HT's🧬ADVANCING SCIENCE SERIES🧫, researchers from The Walter and Eliza Hall Institute of Medical Research and the University of Melbourne (Australia) engineered a more stable version of PvRBP2b, a protein used to identify recent Plasmodium vivax malaria infections.

Using the INFORS HT Multitron incubator shaker during recombinant protein production, the team developed protein variants with higher production yields and improved thermal stability while maintaining their diagnostic performance. Their findings could help support more accessible malaria diagnostics in endemic regions.
