In our over 140-year history, we have grown from a local manufacturer of machines into a global elevator and escalator business. Our story began in a mechanical engineering workshop in Lucerne Switzerland for the production of lifting equipment and machines of all types by Robert Schindler and Eduard Villiger. Since then, we released several innovations from the delivery of the first hydraulic freight elevator in 1890 to the first elevator in the world with an electronically controlled alternating current drive in 1956. As a pioneering digital industrial producer of elevators and escalators, Schindler's intelligent digital solutions allow for improved remote monitoring and predictive maintenance of (Internet-enabled) smart-connected elevators, ultimately increasing the daily availability and reliability of installations. Today, the Schindler Group has over 69,000 employees, more than 1,000 branch offices in over 100 countries, as well as production sites and research and development facilities in the US, Brazil, Europe, China, and India.

22 elevators modernized. One earthquake mid-project. A partnership that started long ago and continues to this day.

Our teams in Bangkok successfully completed a modernization at Emporium Suites by Chatrium & Emporium Tower, a building we’ve served since it opened in 1997. The project ran in phases to minimize disruption while upgrading the elevators with destination control and energy-efficient motors.

When the March 2025 earthquake hit Bangkok, our teams were back on site the next day to check every system, and the project stayed on schedule.

We're proud that our 2025 Annual Report was recognized in the 2026 Swiss Annual Report Rating, ranking 11th overall, placing 7th in Design, and receiving a Special Mention from the Design Jury.
