Once again, we recently had the pleasure of welcoming the Panel 1 team to our facility in Mollis, where they conducted another series of flight tests on our Pre-Series helicopter #5 (PS5) and our first serial aircraft (S6), as part of their evaluation of the .
The team flew a total of around nine hours and expressed positive feedback with all tests performed, witnessing the maturity of the AW09. We look forward to continuing this close collaboration with EASA during the final flight assessment phase, which will take place at key points in the coming weeks, in order to ensure the AW09 meets all certification requirements.

Our flight test team made its longest flight in Switzerland with an - the crew flew non-stop for 4 hours and 50 minutes and enjoyed a stunning view of the Matterhorn. This flight, performed as part of the Function & Reliability Test, was aimed at demonstrating the helicopter’s maturity and readiness for entry into service.

A strong interest for the at !
We were proud to showcase the AW09 mock-up on the booth of Metro Aviation, Inc., a leading U.S.-based provider of customized helicopter solutions, specializing in air medical and law enforcement operations, and our distributor for the AW09 in the U.S. and Canada.
Throughout the event, the next-generation single-engine helicopter attracted significant attention from operators and industry partners. Many of our worldwide distributors were also present, introducing the AW09 to their customers and discussing its future capabilities.
The program has now entered its final phase ahead of entry into service in Europe. The first serial aircraft ( ) has begun selective customer demonstration flights, offering operators the opportunity to experience the helicopter they have committed to. The aircraft will initially be deployed for passenger transport, before expanding to EMS, Law Enforcement and Utility missions.

The S6 helicopter - the first production aircraft - is now flying in its new livery! The metallic grey finish, paired with a petrol-blue line, gives the AW09 a distinctive and refined presence, underscoring both the maturity of the programme and the meticulous attention to detail behind its design. Inside, the cabin reflects the same commitment to comfort, accessibility, and versatility. As it continues to support flight-test activities ahead of certification, the helicopter is also taking a major step forward: welcoming customers on board. With customer demonstration flights about to begin, the AW09 opens the next chapter of its journey.

The certification campaign is moving ahead! With extensive flight testing on prototypes PS4 and PS5, key laboratory tests successfully completed, and our first production aircraft S6 fully part of the programme, the AW09 helicopter is demonstrating strong progress toward certification.

We are thrilled to announce that the full-scale cabin mock-up is on its way to Manila, Philippines! Southeast Asia is one of the world’s most dynamic helicopter markets, and the Philippines represents a particularly strong opportunity. Its geography and the significant number of single-engine helicopters already in service make it an ideal environment for the AW09, our next-generation single-engine helicopter.
The mock-up will be hosted by our exclusive AW09 regional distributor, Helitech Asia, and displayed in Manila from mid-October 2025. This initiative will offer customers from across Southeast Asia and Korea the opportunity to step inside the cabin, experience its comfort and versatility first-hand, and connect directly with the Helitech team.
Meanwhile, the AW09 programme continues to advance with strong momentum. The first serial-representative aircraft, S6, has completed successful flights, while flight testing with our PS4 and PS5 prototypes, along with an extensive ground test campaign, is progressing in parallel toward certification.

The AW09 programme has taken a significant step forward with the maiden flight of S6 – the first serial-production representative helicopter. The flight took place at Leonardo’s Vergiate (Varese, Italy) Final Assembly Line facility, where the S6 was built.
We are extremely proud of this key milestone, which is the result of exceptional teamwork across all Leonardo Helicopters teams. The programme’s industrialisation phase moves forward, while ground and flight certification tests proceed at a high pace.
