Raise a Can to International B**r Day 🍺 !

B**r is one of humanity's oldest traditions. What the Sumerians brewed thousands of years ago from little more than barley bread and water has grown into today's craft: more than 100 styles worldwide, with or without alcohol, and many of them enjoyed straight from a can, ideally cool, fizzy and full of flavour.

Getting all that hard brewing work to the person who opens the can takes many steps. And one of the smallest of those steps carries a big responsibility, and most people never see it: sealing the finished b**r inside.

That's the job of the can seamer. Can ends get placed on the filled cans and the double seam gets formed, each one identical to the last and shaped with the utmost precision, at up to 2'500 cans per minute.

And that double seam is what holds it all together. It locks out air and light and keeps the b**r as fresh in the can as the day it left the brewery, right up to that unmistakable...

When a format change is required, every minute of downtime counts.
The SmartCan filler/seamer block by KHS Gruppe / Ferrum is engineered for fast and operator-friendly conversion of both can and lid diameters. Consistent quick-change solutions throughout the system make a measurable difference where it matters most.

🔹 Can diameter change: Changeover can be completed in around 22 minutes - compared to approximately 45 minutes conventionally. That is a time saving of more than 50%.
🔹 Combined can and lid diameter change: Depending on configuration, changeover time is reduced by up to 60% compared to conventional systems.

To illustrate what that means in real production terms: assuming a time saving of around 100 minutes per combined changeover and an average line speed of 120'000 cans per hour, that translates to approximately 200'000 additional cans produced per format change.
