Saab designs and manufactures a range of advanced dynamics products from its Swiss subsidiary Saab Bofors Dynamics Switzerland (SBDS) located in the centre of Thun. In 2007, Saab took over the warhead division from RUAG and is now on course to develop a world-class facility centred on meeting today’s challenging and state of the art procurement demands for ordnance products focusing on precision,

performance, quality, minimal waste and competitiveness. Retaining and developing the unique skills and experience of the existing management and workforce, SBDS develops and manufactures a range of ammunition, energetic products and provides services in use by worldwide armed forces including the Swiss army. The company includes sophisticated testing and simulation facilities which are among the most advanced in Europe. Staffed mainly by Swiss nationals, the facility embodies Saab’s approach of developing and investing in the unique specialist engineering skills base built up over many decades.
