Virdic is a technology company from Africa with an interest in what people are building, what technology makes possible, and what the future might look like.

We explore interesting ideas, discover the people behind them, share products worth knowing about, and build digital products of our own.

This page is where that journey begins.

Not just technology news. Not just software. A growing space for products, people, ideas and possibilities worth paying attention to.

Somewhere, someone is building a product that could change how people work. A founder is trying to solve a problem everyone else has learned to live with. A new technology is quietly making something possible that wasn't possible a few years ago.

We think those things are worth paying attention to.

Virdic is a place for discovering the people, ideas, products and technology shaping what comes next. Not just the things that are already famous, but the things that are still becoming.

For decades, software has worked the same way. You open an app, click something, type something, and wait for the software to respond. But AI is beginning to change that relationship. Instead of simply giving instructions to software, we are starting to give software a goal and letting it figure out the steps.

That means your next digital assistant may not just answer your questions. It could search for the information, compare the options, fill out the forms, write the emails and complete the task for you. The software isn't just sitting there waiting for you anymore. It is beginning to act.

And that raises a much bigger question: if software can increasingly do the work, what exactly will we need to do ourselves?

The answer could change almost everything about how we work with computers.

But what if we already have the technology?

What we don't have enough of is people building it around our own problems.

Think about it.

A farmer doesn't necessarily need another social media app.

A small business owner doesn't need another complicated software dashboard.

A hospital doesn't need technology that looks impressive but doesn't work in its environment.

They need solutions that understand how they actually live and work.

And this is where African technology gets interesting.

Across the continent, people are quietly building for agriculture, healthcare, education, payments, transportation, entertainment and thousands of problems that don't make international headlines.

Some of these companies will fail.

Some will change direction.

And a few will become enormous.

But somewhere in Africa right now, someone is probably building a solution to a problem you've complained about for years.

You just haven't heard about them yet.

And we're going looking.

🌸 𝐇𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐨, 𝐒𝐞𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫. ✨

No job.
No business.
No income.

Or maybe you finally get a job and earn 35,000 FCFA a month.

Meanwhile, you may have spent 400,000 FCFA, 500,000 FCFA or even more every year just to get there.

So here's the uncomfortable question:

𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐞𝐱𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐥𝐲 𝐝𝐢𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐯𝐚𝐥𝐮𝐞?

Because the world doesn't pay you simply because you went to school.

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝 𝐩𝐚𝐲𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐯𝐚𝐥𝐮𝐞.

Can you build?
Can you create?
Can you sell?
Can you solve problems?
Can you turn a skill into income?

A certificate can open a door.

𝐁𝐮𝐭 𝐚 𝐩𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥 𝐬𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐩 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐛𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐨𝐰𝐧 𝐝𝐨𝐨𝐫.

And that's why Mentorbliss caught our attention.

Founded by 𝐉𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐬 𝐓𝐞𝐡, a Cameroonian entrepreneur and digital strategist, Mentorbliss is built around practical learning, mentorship, personal development, entrepreneurship and skills that people can put to work.

The goal isn't simply to keep learning.

𝐖𝐞 𝐰𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐛𝐞 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐬 𝐧𝐞𝐱𝐭.

We are building a technology company focused on discovering, building and amplifying the ideas, products, people and technologies that can move Cameroon and Africa forward.

We build digital products, software, web platforms, mobile applications, brand experiences and more.

But that's only part of the vision.

Technology that helps businesses grow.

Technology that gives ambitious people the tools to build.

Technology that shows the world that great things can be built here too.

And if you're building something interesting in technology, launching a digital product, running a tech driven business, or have a tech story people should know about…

𝐈𝐭 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐚 𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐚 𝐫𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐡𝐨𝐬𝐩𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐥.

In 2013, Cameroonian engineer Alain Nteff visited his friend, Dr. Conrad Tankou, who was working in a rural community.

What he saw raised a difficult question:

𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐧𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐲 𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐩 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐝𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐬 𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞?

The answer became GiftedMom.

Alain Nteff, together with Agbor Ashu and a team of medical and technology professionals, built a platform designed to reach pregnant women and new mothers with health information, antenatal reminders and vaccination notifications.

But here's what makes the idea particularly interesting.

𝐓𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐝𝐢𝐝𝐧'𝐭 𝐛𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐛𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐩𝐡𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐬.

GiftedMom used technologies such as SMS and USSD to reach people in communities where smartphones and reliable internet could not be taken for granted.

The idea went on to receive international recognition, including the 2014 Anzisha Prize, and GiftedMom later expanded its work across Cameroon and beyond.

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐬𝐧'𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐂𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐫𝐨𝐨𝐧 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐛𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝 𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐡.

We already know that.

The interesting question is:

𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐲 𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐚𝐬 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐛𝐞𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐛𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐭 𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐮𝐬 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐧'𝐭 𝐝𝐢𝐬𝐜𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐲𝐞𝐭?

𝐌𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐛𝐢𝐠 𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐚𝐬 𝐝𝐨𝐧'𝐭 𝐥𝐨𝐨𝐤 𝐛𝐢𝐠 𝐚𝐭 𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭.

They start with something ordinary.

A problem people have gotten used to. A process nobody thinks to question. A small frustration that happens every day.

Then someone asks:

𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐝𝐨𝐞𝐬 𝐢𝐭 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐛𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐰𝐚𝐲?

That's where interesting things begin.

Virdic is interested in those questions.

𝐀 𝐰𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐧 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐝𝐢𝐞 𝐛𝐞𝐜𝐚𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐬𝐡𝐞 𝐢𝐬 𝐚 𝐰𝐨𝐦𝐚𝐧.

The growing reports of women being killed by their husbands or intimate partners in Cameroon should not become something we simply scroll past.

Behind every headline is a woman who had a life, a family, dreams, plans and people who loved her.

𝐕𝐢𝐨𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐢𝐬 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐥𝐨𝐯𝐞.
𝐏𝐨𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐬 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐥𝐨𝐯𝐞.
𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐥 𝐢𝐬 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐥𝐨𝐯𝐞.

We cannot keep treating violence against women as a private matter until another life is lost.

𝐒𝐭𝐨𝐩 𝐟𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐝𝐞.

Speak up. Support survivors. Intervene where it is safe. Demand accountability.

𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐛𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐲 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞𝐧'𝐭 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐨𝐟 𝐕𝐢𝐫𝐝𝐢𝐜 𝐲𝐞𝐭.

That's okay. Virdic is just getting started.

But there is a reason the company exists.

Too much of Africa's future is still something we wait for. Technology is built somewhere else. Products are built somewhere else. Ideas become companies somewhere else.

Virdic wants to challenge that.

𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐟 𝐰𝐞 𝐛𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐭 𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐚𝐝?

Not just one product. Not just one platform. Virdic is being built to explore ideas, develop technology, create products, discover opportunities and turn the things worth building into something real.

The company is starting in Cameroon, but the ambition does not stop there. Virdic believes that being built in Africa should never determine how far something can go.

Some ideas will become products. Some will become experiments. Some may become something much bigger. The important thing is to keep exploring, building and learning.

This is the beginning of Virdic.
There is a lot more to come.
