During the May Day holiday, State Grid builders stayed committed on the frontline of the Itaipu HVDC Transmission Revitalization Project, supporting China-Brazil energy cooperation with solid dedication.
As a landmark project of bilateral energy collaboration, its completion will optimize the local power grid and enhance hydropower transmission capacity. The holiday coincided with a critical period for concentrated equipment delivery. Faced with multiple renovation challenges, the project team spared no effort to overcome difficulties. Wu Hao, Safety Director, has worked continuously overseas for 15 months. During transformer hoisting operations, he strictly followed dual safety standards of China and Brazil, conducted full-process monitoring and meticulous hazard inspection, and coordinated with Brazilian partners to ensure precise equipment positioning. He led the team to optimize construction techniques, eliminate potential risks, reduce project costs, and successfully pass the owner’s acceptance inspection.
Uphold commitment through perseverance, and deepen friendship with expertise! All project participants strive for excellence, empowering Brazil’s clean energy development and fostering deeper mutual benefit and win-win cooperation between China and Brazil.

On April 23, the San Valentín Rural Medical Station — the first community medical facility built and donated by State Grid Chile Holding/Chilquinta Energía S.A — was officially put into operation and handed over to the San Valentín Community Board in the El Rosario District of La Serena, Coquimbo Region, Chile. Located in a remote area with long-standing shortages of public medical resources, the station fills a critical gap in local public healthcare infrastructure and effectively improves residents’ access to basic medical services.

This initiative is a key social responsibility project carried out by Eletrans III, a project company under Chilquinta Energia S.A., as part of its construction of the Nueva Maitencillo–Punta Colorada–Nueva Pan de Azúcar 2×220 kV, 2×500 MVA transmission project. It embodies the company’s commitment to fulfilling social responsibilities and supporting local livelihoods, and fully highlights a model of coordinated development and mutual benefit between power infrastructure construction and local communities.

In Hangzhou, Zhejiang, the acceptance of distribution transformer platforms is undergoing an efficient and precise intelligent transformation driven by the digital upgrade of power services.

Previously, the work relied on operation and maintenance personnel climbing towers for manual measurement and visual inspection, which suffered from low efficiency, hard-to-control errors and high risks of working at heights.

Today, leveraging "Distribution Transformer Platform Point Cloud + AI" technology, State Grid Zhejiang Electric Power uses drones to identify critical components and LiDAR to collect parameters such as spacing and height, automatically generating 3D point cloud models. The entire acceptance process is completed in only 30 minutes, improving efficiency by over 60% and achieving data coverage of more than 80%, reducing labor costs and operational risks, while providing data support for subsequent operation and maintenance.

Empowered by modern power technologies, distribution network acceptance has become more reliable and efficient, building a solid digital defense for the continuous improvement of power supply reliability. This technology has been piloted at multiple distribution transformer supply zones in Yuhang District, Hangzhou, and its replicable experience is set to pave the way for large-scale adoption.

As the 31st World Book and Copyright Day approaches, on April 22 Beijing Time, State Grid's 2026 "A Network of Green Power, A World of Books" Cross-border and Cross-cultural Reading Exchange Event was held simultaneously in five locations across four countries: Beijing, China; Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; Valparaíso, Chile; Lahore, Pakistan; and Hong Kong, China.

Nearly a hundred participants, including Chinese and foreign employees of State Grid, local experts, scholars, young students and community representatives, gathered online. They shared insights on a range of Chinese works, including The Three-Body Problem, Journey to the West, China in History and Reality, Illustration of Energy Revolution and Song Dynasty History Hidden in Ancient Paintings. Participants also wrote bookmarks together and took group photos online. Amid the fragrance of books, they fostered cultural understanding and resonance through the joy of reading.
