Water and electronics don’t usually go together… but we wanted to test the real durability of STRION LASER handheld laser welding machines.

We simulated continuous rainfall to recreate a challenging outdoor environment. After drying the machine surface, we connected the power and started welding immediately.

Welding Gas: Is Nitrogen the “Ultimate Choice”? Is Argon the Only Answer? Can CO₂ Work? What About Compressed Air? 🔥

Different gases create completely different welding results.

🔹 Argon: Inert and stable. It delivers the best weld appearance and is the go-to choice for aluminum welding. The downside? Higher cost.

🔹 Nitrogen: More affordable! It performs well for carbon steel and stainless steel in many applications. But for aluminum, nitrogen is a big NO. It can seriously affect weld quality.

🔹 CO₂:Mainly used for thick carbon steel welding. Expect more spatter and darker weld surfaces. Not recommended for stainless steel.

🔹 Compressed Air:It’s for blowing away dust, not protecting a weld pool. Oxygen and moisture can damage weld quality. Don’t choose it just to save cost!

So, for stainless steel welding, can nitrogen replace argon?
