During ESCMID 2026, 3 abstract posters were successfully accepted by ESCMID and showcased during the congress. One of the studies, about EXP-160R accelerating molecular diagnostics, verified that it achieves rapid thermal cycling through advanced temperature control, detecting 16 samples in 22 minutes with a throughput of 2,400 tests/day. Validation confirmed a detection limit of 200 copies/mL, 100% detection for medium/high viral loads, and clinical sensitivity of 98.05%, specificity of 100%, and accuracy of 99.2% vs. standard diagnostics. Ideal for urgent settings like airports and fever clinics, this innovation sets a new benchmark for rapid, high‑throughput respiratory infection testing.

During ESCMID 2026, 3 abstract posters were successfully accepted by ESCMID and showcased during the congress. One of the studies is about myxovirus resistance protein A (MxA), a highly specific biomarker for acute viral infections. It effectively distinguishs viral infections from bacterial infections to help curb antibotic overuse. To promote its precise application, this study establishes age-specific MxA reference intervals in apparently healthy children aged 15 days to 18 years (n=255). By accounting for age-related baseline variations, these refined intervals prevent misinterpretation and support accurate antiviral treatment decisions in pediatric clinical practice.

During ESCMID 2026, 3 abstract posters were successfully accepted by ESCMID and showcased during the congress. One of the studies, of MALDI-TOF MS genome-based database strategy, verified that the technology overcomes conventional database limitations by constructing predicted protein databases from whole genome sequencing data, covering >13,000 species and 174,000 genomes. Validation on 16,091 spectra (250 genera, 731 species) achieved a detection rate of 87.6%, with species-level accuracy of 85.1% and genus-level accuracy of 98.8%. The method also validates conventional database results, enhancing identification credibility without extra time and costs. This marks a significant breakthrough in clinical microbiology for bacterial identification.
