An old video Two years ago-Robotic cutting
Cutting a 3D part — a beveled edge, an irregular profile, a compound angle off a press brake or a tube bender — has always been the cut a flat-table laser cannot make. A handheld torch can do it, but the layout takes longer than the cut itself, and the same profile rarely comes out identical twice. Honeybee has been running robotic cutting cells for three years. The 6-axis arm holds the cutting head steady on the curve, and the same cell takes a laser head, a plasma head, or an oxy-fuel head depending on the material and the bevel.
The same idea extends to welding: a robotic laser welding cell on the same architecture, or, with the latest cobot line, a collaborative robot welder that moves between workstations and teaches by hand-guided motion.
