DSP-1 Field Application Case - Well Jiantan-1

Well Jiantan-1 is a key exploratory well drilled by CNPC Western Drilling in Huatugou Town, Mangya City, Haixi Prefecture, Qinghai Province, with its structural location at the Jianshan Structure of the Central Nasal Uplift Belt in the Qaidam Basin.
The lithology and electric logging curves of the actually drilled Well Jiantan-1 show good correlation with those of adjacent exploratory wells. The fifth spud section (borehole size: φ149.2mm) was deepened twice (from 5998m to 6200m, then to 6343m), and the bottom-hole temperature reached an ultra-high temperature of 235℃ upon well completion, posing an extremely severe challenge to the high-temperature stability of the drilling fluid. As the main fluid loss reducer applied in the drilling fluid construction of this ultra-high temperature well section, DSP-1 played a pivotal role in ensuring the high-temperature stability of the drilling fluid system, enabling the smooth completion of drilling and well completion operations in the ultra-high temperature well section.

(DSP-1 is produced by solvent polymerization with optimized high-temperature and salt-resistant monomers. Its enhanced steric hindrance and molecular rigidity overcome the weaknesses of conventional filtration reducers in shear resistance, salt tolerance and HTHP performance.
It stably works up to 240℃, adapts to deep and ultra-deep wells, and tolerates saturated salt and calcium up to 5,000 ppm. This product effectively reduces HTHP fluid loss, improves mud cake quality and inhibits clay hydration, performing well in fresh water, salt water, saturated brine and seawater drilling fluids.)
