If aluminum is lighter, why does it sometimes need to be thicker than stainless steel?
Because strength and stiffness are not the same thing.
For decorative panels, that distinction matters.
We looked at what actually happens when aluminum, stainless steel and copper are compared under the conditions a large architectural panel has to meet.
The result is more interesting than “aluminum is lightweight.”
