Why can two 15kWh lithium batteries have such a big price difference?
On paper, they may look almost the same: same voltage, similar capacity, LiFePO4 cells and BMS.
But sometimes, the real difference is inside.
To keep prices low, some batteries use lower-grade or B-grade cells. In some designs, the cells are connected with screws so individual cells can be removed and replaced more easily when problems occur later.
This makes after-sales repair easier — but it also raises a question:
Why was the battery designed for easy cell replacement in the first place?
Higher-quality battery packs often use better and more consistent cells, and welded connections are also common.
Of course, screws don't automatically mean bad quality, and welding doesn't automatically mean good quality. You still need to look at the cells, BMS, internal materials, assembly and testing.
Two batteries can both say 51.2V / 300Ah / LiFePO4, but what's inside can be very different.
Sometimes, that's where the price difference comes from.
