⚡ Faster crack inspection for high-speed EV drive components.

As electric drive systems move toward higher speed and higher performance, components such as motor rotor shafts and output shafts face continuous rotational and cyclic loading.

Stress concentration areas—including shaft shoulders, keyways, and transition radii—require particular attention for surface and near-surface cracking.

For conductive components under suitable inspection conditions, eddy current testing (ECT) offers an efficient NDT solution:

✓ No magnetic particles
✓ No couplant
✓ No magnetization step in the inspection process
✓ Fast scanning of critical areas
✓ Suitable for incoming inspection, in-process quality control, and final inspection

By monitoring critical shaft areas efficiently, manufacturers can strengthen quality control throughout EV electric drive component production.

BRK NDT provides professional eddy current testing solutions for demanding industrial inspection applications.

Scratches are visible. But how much thickness has actually been lost?

The bottom plate of an EV battery pack is continuously exposed to gravel impact, road debris, scraping, and other underbody damage.

Visual inspection can reveal surface wear, but it cannot tell you the actual remaining thickness of the metal.

Using the PMT-360 ultrasonic thickness gauge, we tested samples taken from an actual battery pack bottom plate with different thickness conditions.

With single-side ultrasonic thickness measurement, inspectors can quickly obtain thickness readings at specific locations without accessing the opposite surface.

For a more complete view, B-scan mode records thickness changes continuously along the scan path, creating an intuitive profile of local thinning and thickness variation.

From incoming material inspection and abrasion testing to damage assessment of battery pack structures, ultrasonic thickness gauging turns visible wear into measurable and traceable data.

Can hidden cracks in an EV battery housing be detected before they become a safety risk?

Aluminum alloy battery housings may develop surface and near-surface discontinuities such as microcracks, laps, and cold shuts during manufacturing, assembly, and long-term service. Many of these defects are difficult to identify through visual inspection alone.

The BRK Vortex Eddy Current Flaw Detector provides a fast, non-destructive solution for inspecting conductive aluminum components:

✓ No couplant required
✓ Sensitive to surface and near-surface discontinuities
✓ Real-time signal display and alarm indication
✓ Inspection waveforms and parameters can be stored
✓ Suitable for production inspection and maintenance

By following a defined scanning procedure, inspectors can examine critical areas of the battery housing and retain digital records for traceable quality control.

Make hidden defects visible—before they compromise battery pack safety.

Have you ever really inspected the inside of a liquid cooling manifold? 🔍

Complex internal channels can hide machining debris, weld slag, foreign matter, and other visible abnormalities that cannot be identified through external inspection alone.

With an industrial borescope, inspectors can visually examine the main channel and individual branch passages without disassembling the component.

✔ Inspect internal weld condition
✔ Check machined surface condition
✔ Detect debris, weld slag, and foreign matter
✔ Capture images for inspection records and traceability
✔ Support incoming inspection, production QC, and failure analysis

A clearer view inside means more confidence in quality control.

Every day, thousands of vehicles cross bridges—and every critical weld helps transfer the loads that keep the structure working safely.

Over years of service, traffic loads, wind, vibration, and environmental exposure can contribute to fatigue cracks and other weld discontinuities that may not be visible from the surface.

🔍 Ultrasonic Testing (UT) provides a nondestructive way to inspect weld interiors. Reflections from cracks, lack of fusion, and other discontinuities help inspectors evaluate their location and depth.

In this demonstration, we use weld test blocks and steel reference blocks to show how ultrasonic weld inspection supports bridge manufacturing, maintenance, and structural integrity assessment.

Reliable inspection. Better maintenance decisions. Safer infrastructure.

A nuclear power plant contains an enormous number of welded joints—from the reactor coolant pressure boundary to steam and auxiliary systems.

Over years of exposure to high temperature, pressure, and cyclic loading, cracks and other discontinuities may develop—many of them hidden beneath the surface.

That’s why nondestructive testing (NDT) plays such an important role throughout the nuclear power lifecycle.

🔹 Ultrasonic Testing (UT) – detects and evaluates internal discontinuities using reflected sound waves
🔹 Radiographic Testing (RT) – helps reveal volumetric imperfections such as porosity and slag inclusions
🔹 Penetrant Testing (PT) – detects surface-breaking discontinuities in nonporous materials
🔹 Magnetic Particle Testing (MT) – identifies surface and near-surface discontinuities in ferromagnetic materials
🔹 Eddy Current Testing (ET) – supports surface and near-surface inspection of electrically conductive materials

From manufacturing and installation to in-service inspection and maintenance, NDT helps engineers assess weld integrity without damaging the component being inspected.

Invisible defects require inspection methods designed to find what the eye cannot see.

A vehicle body can contain thousands of spot welds — and every weld matters to structural quality.

Traditional semi-destructive testing can provide direct results, but the tested part may no longer be usable, and the process is difficult to scale for fast production inspection.

The BRK ANYSCAN Portable Ultrasonic Flaw Detector offers a nondestructive alternative for automotive spot weld inspection.

Using high-frequency ultrasound, inspectors can evaluate changes in the echo response and analyze the bonding condition inside the weld. Results are displayed in real time for faster on-site assessment and inspection data recording.

Portable, efficient, and suitable for shop-floor quality control, ANYSCAN helps manufacturers reduce unnecessary part damage while improving inspection efficiency.

What’s happening inside an aircraft engine without taking it apart?

Aircraft engines operate under extreme heat, pressure, and rotational speed. Over time, defects such as fatigue cracks, thermal corrosion, erosion, blade tip wear, foreign object damage (FOD), and combustion chamber deposits may develop in hard-to-access areas.

An aviation industrial videoscope enables technicians to inspect compressors, combustion chambers, guide vanes, high-pressure turbines, and engine casings through existing inspection ports — without engine disassembly.

With HD imaging, photo/video recording, defect measurement, annotation, and inspection data storage, borescope inspection helps support faster condition assessment and maintenance decisions.

A practical solution for line maintenance, scheduled inspections, overhaul, troubleshooting, and engine health assessment.

Turbine blades operate under high temperature, pressure, and rotational stress, making areas such as blade roots, leading edges, and trailing edges vulnerable to fatigue cracking.

Portable eddy current testing enables fast inspection of surface and near-surface defects without couplant. Its handheld design is especially suitable for confined spaces between turbine blades during power plant maintenance.

Real-time signal display and data storage help inspectors quickly locate potential cracks and support defect evaluation and maintenance decisions.

Reliable inspection helps reduce downtime and improve turbine safety.
