I. Appearance
Steel Shot: Spherical particles. Impact is achieved through hammering and compression, creating smooth pits on the metal surface; primarily used for cleaning and shot peening.
Steel Grit: Sharp, angular particles. Sharp edges create a cutting and scraping effect, removing rust and old coatings, resulting in a sharp, anchoring roughness.

II. Hardness 40-68 HRC (Three grades)
- Steel Shot: 40-51 HRC is the most commonly used, with good toughness, not easily broken, and a long cycle life; higher hardness is commonly used for shot peening.
- Steel Grit:
- GP: Tough type (general rust removal)
- GL: Medium hardness, for removing oxide scale
- GH: High hardness, for treating hard and stubborn deposits

Carbon steel balls: Analysis of material and precision grade application



Carbon steel balls are divided into two types: low-carbon steel and high-carbon steel. Their precision grades range from G100 to G1000.

High-carbon steel balls (such as AISI1085 and others) cover precision grades from G100 to G500. Among them, the G100 ultra-precision model has extremely strict dimensional tolerances and excellent hardness, suitable for electric vehicle motor bearings, robot linear guides, automotive transmission components, and precision measuring fixtures, enabling low vibration and long-life fatigue performance during high-speed precise motion. The medium-precision high-carbon steel balls from G200 to G500 are the main products in the industrial field, widely used in hydraulic valves, bicycle hubs, and standard mechanical bearings, balancing both balance performance and cost-effectiveness.

Low-carbon steel balls mainly correspond to the G1000-G2000 low-precision grades. They have relatively loose tolerances and lower hardness, focusing on cost control rather than the accuracy of sphericity. Their main applications include abrasive materials for mine/cement ball mills, drawer slides for furniture, spray paint mixing beads, and mechanical counterweights. 1. Perfectly Balanced Hardness (Mohs 7.5–8.5)
Hard enough to cut stainless steel, carbon steel, aluminum, stone, glass, ceramic, composite and titanium efficiently; delivers fast material removal rates unlike soft abrasives (olivine, glass sand, slag) that cut slowly and waste water pressure .
